Intakes are worthless, spend the money on something better like gears or a tuner.

dude your dad sounds like a ricer! lol j/p

but yeah just find an empty open road where no potential animals can run up in your business and mess you up and see what you can do. try different launching techniques and get it to where you have a balance of it hooking up and not spinning. it'll be different at the track but you'll get the idea of where you'll need to make adjustments. make sure in the bet you get a few passes in to make that time, that way you can adjust for the track.

it should be the same concept as with a manual, just don't let the engine bounce off the rev limiter...smooth accel. and dump it in 1st...then you know how to make ur shifts...

And track conditions are always better... atleast around here, you wouldnt be able to practise launching unless you personally sweeped and cleaned the street yourself, there is sand and **** everywhere... goddamn New England.. :censored:

A 10% gain is even more than 10HP. Aren't the 98 V6's 160HP? That'd be 16HP. Either way he's wrong.

You would have to go half throttle down the track to run a 15 or higher. Just make it easy on yourself: roll up to the light, dont even stall it up.. just launch off of idle, and keep the peddle to the floor. You will win, trust me.

shouldnt i just have it in drive, foot on brake, at like 2-3K RPMs and then let go and floor it when its green/ or just wreck him from idle?

No, that would cause a lot of unecessary wheelspin. The only thing you have to really worry about is launch timing, and even if you really messed that up you'd still beat him. I think it's funny that he thinks he'll win even though you've got 100 more HP than he does...
