Default dad is amazing..

Well, next friday ill be putting some cash into my bank account and ordering SLP1 from MT...BUT my dad thinks im retarded....

he says WHY waste money on a WHOLE NEW EXHAUST, and just get FLowmaster mufflers?

I told him i want a whole new exhaust for HP(not much) and sound gain...he said flowmaster mufflers will do that?

i would guess your dad, since a whole new exhaust system will be more of a sound improvement then just flowmaster mufflers welded in...

It would be cheaper to get some weld in single chamber flowmasters and get a x or h pipe to get some nice gains...so I think the angle your dad is trying to play is cheaper.......but its not better than SLP thats for sure

All you need is the mufflers...

I love these type of topics where one person argues with another about something, then they come on here and ask whos right. its retard vs retard in an argument...
lol

Yea I miss my single chambers every now and then and it would have sounded damn mean with the X pipe.

The cheapest option is welded flows, for sure, but the question is, how much cheaper. You are gonna drop what $120 on the mufflers and then pay for installation. That is, unless you can do it yourself. A nice catback is only about $150 more plus you can pull it off whenever you want and sell it when you get rid of the car and it will never rust.

The extra $150 is well worth it in my opinion as it is money right back in your pocket when you have to sell it.

As far as hp gains, you don't gain much with mufflers or a catback. You might get a few ponies with the mufflers or a few more with the LM-1, but that is about it on an n/a car. Also, don't forget that you get nice tips with a catback. It may seem silly, but they look a lot better then stock. If you get the welded-in flows, odds are you will eventually buy tips anyway and so much for saving money.

Beleive it or not, the stock cat back flows very well. 2.25" is all you need, however the only problems are the very restrictive stock mufflers. Adding a set of flows is really all you need.

The HP difference between a full catback and weld ins is nothing that you could feel anyway. I went with weld ins.

my dad is all for almost every idea i throw... he likes the roush bumper i plan on getting for the true blue 03' gt, and he likes the idea of SLP's (that was the first thing he said "So, what do you plan on doing to make it sound better?" Given my V6 is louder than my V8 by alot..) and he liked all of the ideas i had for my V6. He is also an ASE certified car, and ASE certified truck technician, so we installed all of my mods in the driveway, no bigge.
