Default I jumped on an 04 GTO today

Didn't realize wht it was when I pulled up beside this dude at a stoplight. Light went green and i take off. Well I hear this dude coming up beside me and I went ahead and nailed the chit of it. I slam 2nd gear and the tires let loose, dude beside me hit 2nd and i hear his tires squealing. He still a car length behind me probably could read my chrome letters (lol). Well i slammmed 3rd and he finally pulled even with me. I had to let off cause traffic was coming up fast. He went past me and then he too had to slow down. Thats when I saw it was a GTO. That's a 5.7 LS1 motor rated at about 350 HP. I think he was having trouble shifting, I heard long pauses between his shifts. Anyway I think my 04 GT did pretty dam good He was looking at my rear for at least 3 gears. Oh BTW that GTO sounded f***in great.

I cant believe they are putting 400hp into a re-designed Grand Am.

Actually the GTO doesn't even look as good as a grand am. The one I (didn't race but just sped beside) was silver and not eye catching in no uncertain terms. I actually though it was like a honda or sompin;

Plus I will have 350 HP soon enough. Mustangs are a better car IMHO. I actually think if I had of stayed in it after 3rd gear he may not have gone by me.. It took him long enough plus I had to lay off. I call it a win for the Stang. YEEEHAW

I think they should have put that motor and tranny in a Grand Prix and left the price way under the 32 G sticker for that ugly *** car. Geez he coulda got an 04 Cobra for 32 large.

And BTW www.new-cars.com is a great site for looking at car specs. Check out the stangs

No doubt about that. Mustangs would own the street. I guess if you add that HP you have to add that high dollar too. I mean dam, A Mustang GT should have a bare minimum of 350 HP factory stock.. IMHO.

Wont happen unless a price comparable camaro comes out, and even then probably not. The majority of mustangs sales have been V6s. Ford sold over twice as many mustangs as camaros/firebirds combined for quite some time, even when the Fbodies had 300hp and the Mustang GT had 225 or whatever.

Ford doesnt have to put that much engine in a base model GT because they sell them anyway. Plus it wouldnt leave as much room for higher priced versions that would most likely carry a larger profit.

He would of murdered you had he known how to drive. It is a heavy car but it has the horsepower to back it up. he also has the cobra / viper / cts-v trans which is the t56.

The last time I was at the track they had had a 05 with the dealer sticker still on the window, and he was running 13.1's with tractions issues. They aren't the greatest looking car in the world, but they will still hold there own. The interior is really nice though.

The 04 is a LS1/5.7 litre. The 05 is the LS2/6.0 litre.

Actually, the 05 stangs are underrated at 300 hp, probably closer to 320

I drove a 04. The interior is nice. Other than that, it wasn't very exciting.
