don't buy from this guy
I figured that I'd post this here too. I'm not sure where to put this, but I wanted to make sure that the rest of you don't get scammed by this guy. I've been looking for the actual classified ad, but I can't seem to find it. I check out a lot of Mustang forums, and I can't remember which one I bought from. I think that the guy erased the ad if that's even at all possible.
I bought a Hypertech programmer for $235 shipped. After I got the programmer in the mail. I found out that he never returned his car to stock, and I had a useless programmer. He acted like he didn't know this. I emailed him about it, to which he responded by saying that he had just moved, and he needed to get me his address. Well, that was on 27 Oct and I haven't heard back from him yet. Prior to the sale, the seller always responded back within a few hours if I emailed or posted a message or reply to the ad. I sent him several emails, and I even tried to get my money back through Paypal. They said that since I received the product, then there was nothing that they could do.
I don't know what user name he goes by, but his email address is moc_daddy@hotmail.com His emails come in under the name of Fred Clay, but his Paypal account is under the name of Cody Cain. The package was shipped from Monroe, LA...kind of funny since that's where I'm from. I don't know the guy, but I have been gone from there for a while.
If anybody sees the ad or any other from him, stay away. If the seller is reading this, then I still have your programmer packed up for you and I want my money. Sorry for the rant guys. Please feel free to move this ad to the appropriate section if need be. Thanks.
update
So I called Hypertech this morning, and this is what I found out. Unfortunately, they said that they do not "reprogram" the tuners. Basically, they have to replace the circuit board or chip inside the unit and program it as if it were new. This would cost $266 plus shipping. It's not as much as a new one, but more than I want to spend right now. Everyone please be aware that other companies probably have to do the same thing, so be careful who you buy from. I know that the manufacturers design these so that everyone in the neighborhood can't use the same tuner, so it's not their fault. I had a bad experience, and I'd hate for you to make the same mistake I did. Be aware of who you buy from. Hard to believe that this guy was even from the city next to the one that I grew up in. Well, I guess I'll have to take $235 out of his *** next time I go home on leave. I guess I'll be looking for a Diablo Predator really soon.

Thats why several forums have discontinued the use of classified ads. I am glad Mustang Tuning still have theirs because i have had nothing but success and good transactions. The reputation thread was also a good idea.

Another rule of thumb I would use is not to do business with some using a e-mail account from hotmail, or yahoo, etc. This most likely doesn't mean everyone who uses a 2nd e-mail alternative is crooked, But that should be a red flag or at least a yellow flag for making purchases. better safe than sorry.

sry to hear that man, thats my number one fear right now with buyin stuff online...but then again i've learned if it's too good to be true, it often is...either in quality or somethin else...like the bids that are for like 3 dollars and then 150 dollars in shipping...the african scams, and so on...the chances are probably high that the guyz stole the thing and thats why he never restored the stock tune...
Seperate Question, i been askin this for awhile but how much should it cost to get a shop to tune my car without me havin to buy the programmer?
