Default D80 Nikon? To buy or not to buy?

I can get a D80 body with less than 1,000 shots on it for $500.

Now, the current DSLR I have is a D50, which is almost just as old in generations.

But, would it really be worth it to spend $500 to be buying a DSLR that realistically is still outdated?

I originally was planning on buying the D5000, or maybe a D700 if the price is right, this summer after my GoPro HD comes in.

Opinions?

I'd say save the money. No point in getting another DSLR thats almost just as old. Pass and think of something else to buy or just save for the time being.

save the 500, put it in the DSLR fund. i wouldn't buy a D80 at this point, newer technology is out.

I'd save up an extra $190 and buy a refurbished D90

OMG! $700 for a D90?

Oh I'm all over that ****. I could afford that right now.

Thanks Switch! I've never seen that site before! Well, then I guess this discussion is closed lol.

Okay, so now what lens? I figured if I could pass it off as a birthday present maybe my family will opt in for a lens too.

50mm prime if you don't have one already. That, or the 35mm prime I would say.
