I was in the one of the baddest counties hit. I left my car out over night no damage but it looked like a freaking chia pet when I got out in the morning then had to drive back to Orlando in the nasty *** gusts of wind. My home away from home got a little roughed up but nothing a hammer and nails wont fix.

*I drove as fast as I could to get the hell away from the tornado that was about less than a mile away. Scary s*** right there

It's pretty cool watching it from the top of the bridge I was on driving away on but I saw the damage it did about a few beers later......I mean hours and it ripped the roof off some apartments and there were trucks just hauling a ton of crap away....thats the closest i've ever been to one.

As for tornados my father is in charge of all the observing systems for the National Weather Service...aka the guyz that go chasin tornados work under him...he's got some crazy pictures in the office. You DO NOT wana be near one of those things, the wind power is worse then being in the eye of most hurricaines...!

I live in Jupiter, FLorida and it sucked. The eye of the hurricane went right over us. Mustang is good, just reallll dirty and has a bunch of dried up grass and dirt on it, a nice car wash will get rid of it. The worst thing about these hurricanes for u guys who dont have to experience them is not the hurricane itself, but the days after. You really dont notice how much you depend on power until you live without it for a couple days in hot weather. Luckily for us, the past couple of days has been some nice, cool weather and it hasn't been hot out. We just got power about 30 minutes ago. Best thing about Hurricanes - NO SCHOOL!!!! Im missing about 5 days of school for this thing.

Is it me, or is standing in that water during/after a hurricane a stupid thing to do?

Ive got family in marco island and my dads condo is being built currently on the edge of the everglades in naples.

hey grimmz, there is no wind in the eye of a hurricane. it's dead calm no rain or wind. the eye was over us for about an hour. my house is still without power. we just got power back here at work last night. my car is fine (it was in the garage) my truck has a couple dents, my friends car had the front bumper ripped off and it was right behind my truck. another friends roof was ripped off of his house. my fridge, my tv, cable box, water pump and water heater all burned up. from either surges or from the generator. all have been replaced except the tv. temperatures were nice out for about a week but its starting to get hot out again. i hope we get power back soon.

That sucks - I got power back about a day after the storm hit so I was one of the first to get it back. Great thing with these hurricanes - Havn't had school for about a week and 3 days and dont have it tomrrow! School still does not have power!

you might not have school now but you'll be making it up later. they take away your days off and add on a couple days at the end of the year.

Actually with our school its a private school so they do it a bit different. Instead of having a day off of school , they will give us a half day instead, and the days we would normally have a half-day they make a full day. It reallly aint that bad. Plus seniors graduate about a month before everyone else in our HS so we might not have to make up some days.
