Default Bye Bye SCT XCal 2...

Well I was at the pump today after driving with my low fuel light on since saturday. I figured id drive really slow and easy to get the most out of my tanke and when I say slow and easy, I really mean it. I actually got yelled at for not pulling out fast enough from a stoplight by a guy in a truck turning, so after I said my return words at start with an f and a y, I decided it was time for gas. I pull into the local mobile because they were the closest place with 93oct and IT WAS 2.97 A GALLON! What the hell I say to myself. I put 10 bucks in and after work and all that, I pulled the car in and reprogrammer came off and I had to put the stock tune back on. These gas prices are rediculous. Im stayin with 87 for a while...

As a matter of fact, im going to email modulardepot and ask for a gas effecient tune on 87 with a rev limiter of 3500rpm...

Hey I dropped down to a midgrade tune 89 oct trust me you get better gas milage at that kind of tune then you would at premium and your engine might knock at 87 oct. 89 oct just seems to be just right for me.

Matt, I am with on this one. But, you save only a measly $0.20 per gallon. This was a big difference when gas was $1.25, but is only squat now.

20 cents a gallon adds up in a month...

At least you don't drive a Cobra. Premium gas is required. We all feel your pain bud.

And to think, I was considering getting rid of this mustang for that 03 blue lightning down the road that already has a couple goodies on it already...

Default Costco or Sams Club

I've found that day in, day out prices at Costco or Sams Club are the lowest (usually about 20 cents a gallon cheaper). I just tanked up this afternoon for $2.57 per gallon (premium), which was a good deal cheaper than the usual gas dealers around here.

A lot of folks go into sticker shock over gas. In many states, a big chunk of the cost is high taxes (check this out and yell at your elected officials - right now they're scheming how to spend this mouontain of unexpected money to buy themselves votes next election). A typical $3.00 gallon of fuel has over $1.00 in taxes added on, one way or the other. Most of the time, consumers aren't aware that they are paying taxes on fuel much higher than other sales taxes on other commodities in their states...

If you drive 10,000 miles per year, and get 20mpg, you need 500 gallons of fuel a year. At $.20 per gallon, that's a glorious $100 per year, or less than $2 per week, to enjoy the benefits of more power in your Mustang. Don't let the psychology of price deprive you of something you want!

Yeah, gas sucks nowadays! Hell i rember when gas was like $1.29 for 87 and premium was $1.45 and you actually had a choice of what grade fuel you wanted! ....now I don't have a choice since i can't afford premium anymore!

with 93 tune in my mach, I am getting 400+ mile to a tank driving GOOD. (hard to do) 87 tune alot worse. Check your mileage with 93 tune then with 87, you might be surprised and save with 93

Default Lead foot

Most write-ups (and Granatelli) claim a mileage advantage with the tune set for Premium - though my lead foot negates all of this.

The only time I think about gas mileage is when I drive my pickup truck (16mpg - doesn't seem to matter whether its sitting idling or on a long interstate trip - still averages 16 mpg).

I'm only 23 and I can remember in OK when gas went over $1.07 people crapped em. Today regular is @ $2.57, I have been helping my dad with his lawn business just to hedge the price of gas (and I do run reg )Price of everything is becoming outrageous.

I work for Pepsico and we have gone up on a lot of basic stuff:

24 pack of Pepsi reg price $6.48
2 liter pepsi products $1.18
1 xl bag of nacho doritos $3.49

These are at a wal mart!

I've thought about taking the tune out of my car, but I just can't do it! ha ha....one thing I've never been able to figure out is how people are getting 350-400+ miles on a take of gas with a mustang! The closest I've come is 320 and that was going strait on I-5 to Los Angeles. Is my A/F messed up or somthing?

Don't pull the tune, odds are you're getting better mileage with it.

gas isnt bad enough to start running on regular! I spend $30 on gas a week, that gets me to and from school, work, and wherever I go on weekends. I wish gas was cheaper but 120 a month...could (and will) be worse

The cheapest I've ever gotten gas for was $0.88 a gallon. Right now it takes roughly $45 to fill up . As for mileage, I get about 260-280 on 3/4 of a tank (that's when I fill it up). I've really got to learn to drive right.....

shift under 3k rpm......my friend in a civic (i know not a mustang but go along w/ it) shifted under 3k and averaged 35 mpg (full to empty) then the next week he filled it up and just tore the streets up.....like always redlining it (dont worry.....he knows hes an idiot) and shifted when vtec kicked in.....i think he said that he then got like 27 mpg
