351W
So im looking and despret. Best deal I've found in Toronto, 3 months of searching later is a 75000km engine for 2000 bucks!
I'm guessing for about 3000 bucks, I would rather just buy a factory one! Anyone know if year one or some other manufacturer still makes em fresh? nothing like an engine you gotta break in yourself....agreed?

2011, and I don't know about fitment. But if you're worried about a 2 thousand dollar motor then you won't be wanting to pay the price for that one. I also don't know if the new 5 liter would bolt up to the transmission correctly, etc.

Its gonna be a drag car to compete with daddys vette. Im personally more of a small block person, so a crate motor or something stupid is outa the question. If i gotta get the 2011* tranny to go with an engine.... Ill save up. Im just worried about the fit. Gonna need enough room for a big fuggin turbo :P
ps.. Feel free to shoot other ideas at me. Ill have it done for next season!

Well if you're not afraid to throw alittle cash at it, I'd go with a stroked 351.

besides. hate to admit it, but winter is around the corner
ill probably end up leaving it on the trailer it came on, and build myself a monster for less then 20k. and i already got a v6 as my dd
roughly 50k later for a new one, not to mention financing, more insurrance costs and a much heavier weight on my concience when i race. i think ill stick with my fox

Hey Crackhead, where you been? Just remember "speed cost, how fast do you wanna go?" Do you want to do all out drag car or just something that makes noise? Go with a crate motor of some sorts and don't worry about junkyard motors because what you send in machine work and "GOOD" quailty parts you can have a turn key motor with a warranty. Look into the World Man O War motors from Jegs and other dealers.

i want to have a car i can drive to the strip. not something i gotta take on a trailer.
and as stated... no crate motors. im looking for a 351w. dont even want a 351c. so a crate motor, as stated, is outa the question.
noise is good, but speed is better....... any other thoughts?

.. why you're so hellbent and NOT getting a crate motor is beyond me.
Build a 351 up then. And TBH even if the vette runs 10s..it won't be hard to outrun it in a fox..
Pick the 351 up for 2 grand. Order new gaskets, etc. Go get yourself some forged pistons and h-beam rods for it. Order a nice healthy cam, port/polish heads, add nitrous. Run 9s.
But since you're wanting a turbo... forged pistons, h-beam rods, remember you'll be wanting low compression on it..
Turbocam, port/polish work
I think the 351 is carb'd..so..turbo will need a blow through setup.. fabricate that ****..
Then depending on how big the turbo actually is, run 10s 9s or 8s possibly.
So...there ya blow.
On a turbo..automatic is the way to go.. but if you don't have one, then your manual will probably be needing some attention..
Honestly..may as well stroke the 351 while you're at it..no sense in putting forged internals and not doing it..

347 with some squeeze will hit mid 10's. I know of one running 11.20's on motor all day w/ C-4 transmission.
If you run the 351 may as well stroke it to 408 and run close to 10.00's unless you plan on getting a license and cage to make the car legal to run on the 1/4 mile faster then 9.99. Well, I dont know if Canada follows NHRA rules for drag racing so I could be wrong.
