Got a job.

I have no plans to get rid of mine anytime soon. Maybe someone will come up with a k-member and some headers to swap the new 5.0 in the new edge

It was cool running into you on I-75 a couple months ago!!
#63
Yea it was. We should meet up sometime.

This thread turned lame real quick...Congrats on the job man. Save that money up and dump the 4v into it. Look into the on3 performance turbo kit if you have any extra money. people are making good power with it and its cheap $$$ wise.

You are young. Have some fun while you can, when you get older (which WILL come faster than you expect) then you can worry about being smart about money.
There are no garauntees on anything, no garauntees on investments, savings, or anything. Live life, dont plan a comfy death. lol.
I was never that great with money, i do have impulse buy habits, and im about a quarter million dollars in debt too.
but then again, almost all of that is my mortgage. lol.
Ya know the shitty thing about having lots of money? is usually you just have enough to be broke. This is something i learned, no matter how much you make there always seems to be a bill that takes it from you, be it a lawyer bill, 7,500 medical bill, or whatthefuck ever.Hell, right now i have my wifes jeep payment, insurance, mortgage, additional apartment lease, all of my utilities, and $500 a month child support.
that mustang was a money pit, i diddnt get **** back from it, but dammit i enjoyed the hell out of it and the good memories are something money can never buy.

What makes you think I give a ****? I was trying to give sound advice but I guess I should have known better.

Why do you care what he does with his money? How do you know how his life is going to turn out. It's a ******* summer job. He's putting money into his pocket so he can spend it on something he enjoys. Why is that so hard to understand? I got a job when I was 16 and have had one ever since. I never saved ****, but here I am with a car I enjoy (and mod), a house, food on the table, and whatever other cool **** I like. Just cause you might have had some shitty moments in your life or made some bad decisions, doesn't mean it happens to everyone.

I caught this thread a lil bit late. But I had read BP is starting out the clean up crews at $20 bucks an hour, that's good fcking money no matter what age you are. But you should have to take at least some sort of training class before you start.
And this a temp job obviously, but BP has money to burn, otherwise they'd be offering at most $9 bucks an hour. And they're desparate to clean up that oil before it gets settled in too bad on the beaches.
Good luck on the 80 plus hours a week, That's extreme. It's hard just to stay awake for 80 hrs a week. 2 weeks into that and it could get dangerous..
Stay safe, because I'm not sure if OSHA is gonna regulate this, so BP might see you as an exceptable loss if something happens. Plus watch out for slackers. You may need to Holler " hey You" Get to fcking work, Then it might cause problems with morale...

****, when I was doing that tent rental thing, we'd get just over 100 hours per pay period, well, during the busy season anyway.
Hes definately lucky, though. Thats mod money out the ***. Hopefully I can get hooked up with this oil cleanup too, seeing as how I need a damn job. I know you have to have hazmat training first, or so I heard.

Well I don't know about the pay yet, it varies. The contractor takes out what they want, then the employer, and we get the rest..but I'm hoping atleast $15/hr. Then I'd have more than enough to do what I want. Depending on the company you go through, they put you in the 8, 25, or 40 hour HAZWOPER course. We're doing the 40 hour, and it's the biggest waste of time/boredom inducer I've experienced. Today is the last 10 hour session with the final test then I get certified. Also doing fit-testing for our full-face respirators and friday is the orientation with the contractor, pay assigment, job assigment..etc. Start working saturday. OSHA is regulating this like a hawk.
Today was my first real day of cleaning up the oil. It was ******* CAKE. Easy as ****. They baby the hell out of us, and its not a hard job at all...they're paying me 12 dollars an hour to do something a chimp can do. Working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. 84 hours a week. Not bad. Shitty part is...I have to wake up at 3:30 in the morning, and drive to destin to meet up. lol..

wih Evironmental Labor Solutions....you see...I thought that we'd be working out of navarre, since we trained there, but nope. Im just gonna do this **** until I can get my car fixed up to where its 100% again, maybe some rims, and then Im aiming for a bike. But seriously...working 30 minutes on, and 30 minutes off isnt bad. lol.The days go by super slow though, and the unnecessary steel toed boots, pants, "chicken booties", and some of the safety precautions are a little ridiculous. haha.
