Got a job.

I'd put some money away. You gotta start somewhere. They'll be a time when your older and your friends will be buying houses, and cars and you'll be still at home.
I'm not exactly pro-savings, but i did save majority of my money from when I was 17 or so, and now I have a nice house, car, bike, etc, and alot of income generating projects, and i'm only 21.
I believe you should save only when your younger actually. As you get older, you want to put your extra money into things that generate more money.

Nice man! That'll bring a lot cash in quickly. You'll have definitely earned it, that job will kick anybody's ***. I just got that new loading job at Home Depot and being outside all day drains you.

I didn't know there were people that want to work until they are 65. Hmm. Learn something new everyday.
My life isn't consumed by work, if thats what you're getting at. The goal is to work less and less, while getting paid more and more. I've done a pretty good job.

Ah yes.
Well, the chances are I probably wouldn't have had a job this summer anyway, and I still have 2 years of college left. So I'm going to spoil myself since I'm going to be working my *** off for about 7 weeks.
This is some of the stuff I'll be budgeting for in addition to the mach 1 drive train
MGW short throw
FRPP aluminum drive shaft
MM full-length SFCs
Mac LTs, O/R H and borla stingers
I won't know if I'll be able to throw on some MM bilstein coilovers on the front until I see if I make $10 or $15/hr, and if the engine/tranny/ecu/wiring is under $4,500.
It's going to stay under a V6 wrapper, not changing hoods, or scoops. The rear bumper is going to stay as a V6 bumper for a while so I'll have the pipes hanging under until I find a GT bumper..lol. Should still look like a V6.
But this will be nice.

He car is way more unique looking then a stock mach1. Plus half the fun for me is doing the mods. A v6 car with a 4v from a wrecked car is cooler to me then a stock mach1. Plus I think he loves that v6 power car.
You should just turbo the v6 for the $4,500 and do work. We need another monster v6 around here doing work. Since Sean is a phantom these days.

I'm done with this 3.8, my motor has a nice tick going and it's stock gas mileage is too shitty. If the 3.7 were available for around $4k I wouldn't mind trying to swap that in, but those will be real expensive for the next couple of years. 4V will be fun.

And Steeda, not saying everyone wants to wait to retire at 65, but some people are happy with what they are doing or what their job is. Just because he doesn't start saving now, doesn't mean a few years down the road he won't have money. My father-in-law makes very good money and he's still working being close to 60. Not everyone is the same.

If you want to retire with money the best advice is treat investing like a bill that you have to pay every month. If you are smart and do reasearch you can find some very good investments and investing is way better than saving because saving will never make you rich.
If you start investing young and make sure that your portfolio is balanced you can easily get to the point where your money is working harder for you than you could ever work for yourself.
Anybody can do it the only problem is the dicipline to start

Why is it that when people want to, and actually are capable of doing big mods to their car all at once (opposed to spending 1k a year on useless mods$, people on car forums start to talk about investing and being smart with the money instead of spending it on the car? This is a car modifying forum people, we wouldn't be on here if we were good investors because cars are one of the worst investments imaginable. I don't know if it's just envy because you aren't able to do the same, or if you honestly think the most we should do to our cars is some wheels and an exhaust, but give me a break. I'm in college with scholarships, I have a full two years atleast before I graduate, so I'll do what I see fit with the money I earn.

Rather instead of modding my car anymore I realized its stupid and I am paying bills off and saving.

Pee, don't let it get to you. I'm the same way as you. There is no point for me to be saving my money right now, at all. I work my *** off and make the money so I can see the benefits of it, which 99% of the time ends up in car parts. I have a "cushion" and I have all my bills paid every month, so why not spend the extra I have left over? I have at least three years until I am fully done with school, and it's not like I need to start saving for a house now.
I'm smart with my money (no title loans, no credit cards, payments, etc.) and don't blow it on useless things. I understand saving money to have something to fall back on, but saying that you should start saving for a house when you're 14 just sounds ridiculous to me.
It has nothing to do with being young, or any of that bullshit. I took everything I do from my 40-year old father, who had almost everything he wanted not because he saved money since he was 14 but because he didn't use credit cards, take out loans, or anything of the like. He sat back some money for the "cushion" and spent the rest on things for us and himself. Pretty damn good life to me.
Do what you're doing Pee, I'll be waiting to see the progress come the end of summertime!

Really, what's up with all this save it **** lol. He's working a summer job that he's gunna put towards building a car he has wanted for years. He's not making a bad financial move at all. Hell I say spend the money on the car while you can. Once you move out and get a real job you may not have mod money to throw at the car. He even said himself if he didn't get this job that he probably wouldn't have even gotten a job this summer. I say go for it and don't look back man! I plan to throw a 4v in my car a couple years form now and spray it till I can boost it, I can't wait for some real torque!

I am planning to do a 4v swap eventually but we have plenty of time to spray my six before any swap takes place

Does it bring a tear to your eye for every motor that doesn't see some nitrous in it's lifetime?
You should spray the 4V Kevin. They respond awesome to nitrous.
