Unbelievable storms in Middle TN.
I'm not sure if any of you have seen this, but please keep the families in Tennessee in your thoughts over the next several days. We have gotten nearly 20" of rain in the last two days, it has been like nothing that I have ever seen before. So far we are only two days into the month of May and we have already had more rain than some time in the late 1800's.
Bridges are washed out, streets are still flooded and the Cumberland river is estimated to crest tonight at nearly 55' (previous record of 46.7') 10-15' above flood level last time I heard (could be higher). The last report that I heard was that the water level has reached the Opryland resort, and the Stadium, LP Field. Opry mills mall (where Opryland amusement park used to be) apparently has several feet of standing water throughout the facility. One of the TVA/NES power sub-stations in Nashville is flooded and there are thousands without power. The reports are sketchy at best right now, but from what I understand, one of the major Dams is reaching it's maximum capacity and they could potentially have to let some of the water flow which could cause the Cumberland to rise even higher putting hundreds of homes in jeopardy.
I'm sorry for the ads in the videos, but this is the best I've got at the moment.

I can't see the videos, but I can imagine it's similar to what we went through in '04 when we had 4 almost back to back hurricanes. We had to have crews from other states come to help restore our power. We went without power for 3 weeks, because I live in the boonies, haha! Thank god for generators.
So yeah, those of us in FL and other hurricane-ridden states know how bad it sucks. I hope it clears up soon for you guys.
Have they declared a state of emergency there, yet, Evan?

You're getting what we had the other day, but a lot worse from the sounds of it. We nearly had a tornado touch down right in the middle or downtown. I'd never seen a rotating funnel cloud before then. Hope everything clears up soon.

I really wish that this was a situation that would warrant cracking jokes, but it really isn't.
This is the view down the street from my friend's house.
From his front porch.
And this is his house, complete with a black built '03 Cobra in the garage under water..

Don't know that it would do any good at this point. The garage is a full 2.5-3' lower than the front porch and the water is over the porch and into the house 3-4".

JUST HOLY ****.
Is there a slight lucky chance that it will still run?
I know if u get an engine under water if its running and the air intake is above water it wont kill the engine.
I've never experienced this before.. is it just fucked?

This has been the most unbelievable thing that I have ever seen in my life.
IF you think that is insane.. Look at this. This is Beech Bend raceway in Bowling Green, KY.

How the **** does water get that high? I have some friends that were doing Chump car races at Nashville when the rain started falling. The officials called the race (4th place), but as they were leaving, while it was just starting to flood, they got split up, the tow rig and some of the other guys in a different car. I'm pretty sure they are still stuck in TN, they may have gotten out by now.
Unbelievable man.

Holy ****, Evan. That's almost unbelievable to look at. I'm wondering about the cars, too. As long as the engine isn't running when the water is that high, will they be okay?
Insurance companies in your area are going to be hating life soon.

Trust me, we are hating life.. I've never felt so awful for people in my life. They are losing everything because very few people carry flood insurance here, even though we offer it, they almost always turn it down.

Well, the main thing that I would think will be an issue will be all of the electronics in modern vehicles.. Most flooded/submerged vehicles get totaled in the long run. Plus it will be extremely difficult to clean all of the water out of the seats, carpets, etc. so it would most likely smell like ***, especially with how badly most of the cars were flooded here..

I'm good, thanks for asking. Cars are fine, only thing that took any kind of damage at all is my shed, but it will be fine too.
The water is finally starting to reced at Joshes house. I'm hoping that we will be able to start working on it tomorrow.

Damn man. That really sucks. I know my United Contianer dealer up in TN is really busy this week and the next two with alot of people tearing their houses apart and fixing the damage. He sent me some crazy photos from up there.

Wow, I hope your family and friends stay strong and pulls through. I live in Murfreesboro and just missed all of the heavy rain. If it would have rained like it did in the Nashville area our house would have definately been flooded being that our house is only a 1/4 mile away from the East Fork of the Stones River.
Good Luck to everyone.
