Setting Up Surround Sound for Cable TV
So long story short I bought an open box Panasonic SC-BT200 7.1 channel home theater system. It didnt have a remote. It was only 300 dollars brand new, so why not.
Thanks to my 42" Panasonic Viera 1080p Plasma, I have Viera Link. So i figured why not, I could use the tv remote.
Everything works great. Except for the cable.
I ran a rocketfish fiber optic cable from my blu-ray player (STB port) to my comcast HD box. I changed the input on the blu-ray to Digital In 2 as it says. But I can't get the sound to play through the speakers!
Any common issues? Or solutions?
I've posted the same question on AVSForums. Not too much of a response.

Does your comcast box pump sound out through both the HDMI and optical port?
Generally thats the issue.
Take the optical from the box and instead run it from the digital optical out on the TV to the surround. Should fix it.

Lol. Welcome to the world of cable companies. For some reason 9/10 cable companies don't have boxes that pump out both at the same time.
