Unhappy C'mon Now

So Im reading my Motor Trend December issue on the pot yesterday as I usually do. And finally got to read the article where they compare the Hennessey Camaro, SpeedFactory Challenger and the GT500 Super Snake.

The claimed HP for the GT500 AND GT500 Super Snake are both 750.

Motor Trend dyno test on all the vehicles.

Hennessey Camaro
Claimed- 650
Actual- 612
Dif of- 38hp Not bad really

SpeedFactory Challenger
Claimed- 700
Actual- 454
Dif of- 246 WHOA! Damn thats WAYYY off (unless that a typo on MTs half)

GT500 Super Snake
Claimed- 750
Actual- 635
Dif of- 115 Why, why lie like that?!

I expect this BS from Mopar but FoMoCo!? WTF!

.18 * 750 = 135...so now, we subtract 135 from 750 and we get 615 rwhp. seems right to me.

The .18 is pretty standard for drivetrain loss. FYI .18 is 18%.

+1 I don't think they were being deceitful, it is pretty much industry standard for vehicle manufacturers to list power ratings at the crank.

They are not rated at the tire, they are rated at the crank so the numbers for the Ford are good, the Camaro is underrated, and the dodge they said did not have have correct motor in it as the built motor had problems before they left so it was a stock 6.1 with a basic vortec setup.

they should of used a Mr. Norms challenger. kenne bell 2.8 behemoth!

I thought hennesey rated their cars at the wheels...either way they build monsters for dealerships.

camaro's not that good looking, but has the less powertrain loss. still, it's a chevy. so...no.

i have a soft spot for Mopar. ...except when they fail to offer a manual when they release their top of the line SRT. the Challenger is too quiet stock also, unless these guys fixed that issue.

i have no qualms about the GT500, it's a ford after all. i have yet to drive one. been to a dealership that has one though, awesomely nice car. i would so get speeding tickets in that car.

So in other news. A 2010 GT500 pulled up next to me and the dude driving said I had a nice car. I thanked him and told him not as nice as his. He reurned with I wish the engine was in your car though. I smiled ssaid thanks once again. He slowed down leaving at least 1000 ft between him and the car in front of him, then took off. The sound of that S/C made me hard instantly.....so sweet.

Not bad for 635 I guess...lol

i remember watching the video of this comparison. was really interesting to watch. and Spike is right, they didnt have the correct motor in the mopar because the higher rated hp engine was having troubles. so they offered to let them test the lower model.

SpeedFactory is located right up the road from me, like 2 and half miles. I don't care for MOPAR but they put out some pretty mean cars

the GT500 super snake yeilds a big *** mamouth kenne bell 2.8 liter blower under the hood...that is what produces the 750 hp

the 2010 GT500 is something in the mid 550 hp range. not 750...
