The SV-650 is a SOLID starter bike. plenty of power (up high, ideal for beginners), sporty but comfy ergonomics and styling, just great bike all around. IMO the best starter bike.

never seen that kawi before, looks pretty good though!

hey badfish I see you have a nice cbr.
is it not uncomfortable to take passangers on the 600?
and how is the ride compared to other sports bikes?
is it not too rough?

I don't want to start a new thread for it but do any of you guys have any time on a Suzuki SV650 or Kawi 650r? I am really liking the styling of the new 650R and heard they are both great starter bikes.
They are both excellent choices.

The SV650 is a great bike. It is on the smaller side and handles amazingly. It has a V-Twin motor so it favors the torquey low-end RPMs.

The Ninja 650R is also a great bike, is physically slightly bigger/heavier. It has a Parallel Twin motor, so it favors the screaming high-end of the RPMs. I2 motors tend to be a vibratey...nothing horrible, just something to note if you do go that route so you don't think your bike is broken.
