Default The MB Gun Thread

I searched and didn't see one of these per-se..

Okaaay, how about this. Instead everyone making seperate threads for photos, questions, and comments about guns, we all just keep it contained in this one thread so we all know where to look if someone's got a question, gun news, some info to share or some jibbity jabbity like that? Just keep the POLITICS out of this thread.

Do not move this thread to the pictures section, because it's more than just PICZ.

Anywho. I got a Simmons 3-9x40 scope for my 10/22, the weaver rail scope mount came in today so I threw it on, might be able to head to the range this weekend to zero it in..probably at 50 yards. Also got an extended magazine release so I now longer have to jam my finger into the gun to pull a mag out...much more natural now, so if any of you have a 10/22 I HIGHLY suggest an extended mag release. The Leapers/UTG steel one is very nice.

Guns are bad, they kill people. They should all be banned.

I kid, I kid... Looks good Pee. You should post up a sweet shot of your whole arsenal.

The supreme court has taken up the "incorporation" component of the 2nd amendment case. This is their way of telling all us lowlifes whether or not we're actually allowed to have guns in the states without undue restriction or impediment or if it's just a right on federal land.

One of the most important cases in history. This will tell us if it's the government that wields the power or if it's the people. I'm all for the revolution if they decide wrong. We'll know it's been politicized since the 1st only exists because the 2nd is there to protect it.

How do you like your Maverick? It looks like it would be a good home defense gun.

It's a great gun... solid 12 gauge. I can't complain. Got 6 buck shots in the magazine waiting for an intruder. got it for 200 bucks too.

Guns are for girly men. I have a machete in my car and one next to my bed for special occasions. It's no fun unless you can feel the warm blood spraying all over you

Just a random selection. The photos are stock photos. I don't usually take many pics of my actual pieces.

glock 20sf. I have a Wolf .357 Sig barrel and a Wolf .40S&W barrel for it too. Those are 6" compensated tubes though. Really easy way to carry 10 .41 mag level rounds.

A Winchester built M1A1. Mine's never been arsenal refinished. It's in as issued condition and has the older flip up rear sight and flat bolt. I added a bayonet lug to mine though.

A Thompson Center Hawken Great Plains .50cal. A nice gun with a LOT of stomp. Takes up to about a 120gr charge. I only ever use about 80gr of FFF.

Rossi Trifecta. .22,20ga,.243win Under 300 bucks for 3 guns in one.

Mossberg 5500. 100 bucks for a semi-auto 12ga. Hellz yeah. Found it and grabbed it.

Holland & Holland Double Rifle. I don't shoot it. It breaks collar-bones and shoulders. Smooth-bore with aggressive gain twist rifling in the last foot of the barrels. For shooting really heavy paper patched bullets. .700 bore. Won it from my dad in a bet. It was worth about 75K when I won it. Probably more now. It lives in a vault in another state.

Edit: After teasing my dad about breaking his shoulder in a bet to win the H&H, he decided to teach me a lesson and make the SAME bet to me. The "bet" was 'I bet you can't shoot this off the shoulder twice in 5 minutes. If you do I'll give you the gun and all the ammo.' There were about 100 rounds of ammo, at 50 bucks each at the time that alone was worth the agony. It split my shoulders like kindling and ended my competitive shooting career. A classic case of the mouth writing checks the *** couldn't cash ending up in a trip to the doctor and a certain kind of pain every time it rains.

brute... I guess that could describe it if you wanted to drastically understate things. Think of it this way. A 300 win mag makes about 30-32lbs of free recoil energy. That bloody jackhammer makes about 125-130. I'd just as soon back it up against a Jeep or a tree or something if I have to ever shoot it for some dumb reason. It's already broken both of my shoulders once.

The thing is that's not even representative of my actual "collection". In safes in other states I have a reasonable collection with themes and the whole bit. My WWII US small arms collection is quite thorough, minus the Class 3 items it's complete sans a 1941 Johnson that I knew I should'a bought when I had the chance. I have a nice set of european shotguns from the early 1900's. All the glocks up till the 36 was released, minus the 18 of course. I got the newest 20sf because I like the smaller frame profile. If you have big hands but have found big frame glocks don't fit you, try the SF (small frame) models. The others are just the ones I like to shoot the most primarily.

As far as finding... my dad made a trip to Southern Africa at one point and won the rifle from it's original owner in much the same way as I did from him. One day my... wait naw, nm that's fucked up. Other than that I worked at a gun shop for a time. Found lots of great deals just walked in the door.

Bought a walnut stock for the Garand. I honestly can not tell if it is USGI or not- it has the proof mark; but those are commonly forged, and no cartouche. It's got some minor dings and bruises but it seems to be in much better shape than most stocks I've seen. Regardless, it looks great and I feel like I've restored some dignity to my M1.

The finish is pretty close to that on my hand-guards, just a shade or two lighter. I'll probably get out the tung oil and go over it once to darken it up.

Wooden handled 7.62x39?

VERY NICE.

I have a Saiga 7.62 synthetic stock. Its pristine.
I have a remmy 870 express super mag with a full choke.
A remmy 30.06.
Knight 50 cal blackpowder.
various 4-10, double barrel 20, single 20, break downs. bunches of guns.
And I almost picked up a DE50cal. Had it in a pawnshop for 1.5k. HUGE pistol. I'll get some pics sometime.
