Almost every dog Ive ever owned chewed **** up and was "destructive". You said yall gave 2 dogs away because one was destructive, and the other killed some chickens, and your dog didnt kill those chickens because your douchebag brother ran it over. Hate to break it to, you, dude, but thats what dogs do. Thats why you train them to be more obedient, and even training a dog still isnt going to completely stop it from doing what it wants when you arent around.

[QUOTE=Deathdiesel;441157]*sigh* have bad news...Unfortunatly the rest of my family didnt like Oreo as she was kind of destructive when the two pups played..soo while i was at school they took her to a pound and dropped her off..Really pissed me off. Today we had a tragic event kind of. Snowman bieng the more mellow dog we kept, but he liked to hide under cars at some times..My brother was pulling in today in his GT and snowman decided to jump underneath the car and got ran over. My brother felt him underneath his right rear tire and slammed on the brakes PARKING on him. I was on the PS3 across the house and heard my mom screaming and ran a 100 yard dash in less than 5 seconds..Bieng a complete ******* idiot my brother is STILL parked on the screaming dog. I scream at my brother to pull forward and move the **** up. He does and as soon as the tires off him, snowman bolts to the back of the house. Amazingly he had enough energy to get there screaming the whole way. I chase after him and he was limping, bleeding out of his nose, and had a blood blistered eye. Amazingly SO FAR hes ok..No broken ribs, legs, bones etc. Although its possible he has internal bleeding and noone knows it, but he has had a rough night. My brother bieng the usual ***** takes no blame for it and still argues with me that he didnt run him over at all and that he just bumped the dogs head...thats horseshit i saw it myself. Either way hes fine that we know of now, just real tired. Also we gave him a bath and hes now turning spotted white/tan.
Since you cant apparently remember what you posted, I took your advice, and so here it is. Me clarifying..
I am fully aware that it was your parents that made the decisions to get rid of your dogs, Because they are obviously clueless as to what its like to own a dog, which is why I dont think you should own any seeing as how you live with them, and are at their mercy. Your parents seem pretty ignorant when it comes to dogs. Your brother is a douche, hands down, and not in any single post from me in this thread said your dog killed your chickens because of your brother........dont know how the **** you interpreted that. If you even read my posts, I said that it is common behavior for a dog. It didnt do it because its traumatized from being run over, or just ******* snapped or something.
Well i have an update of the family..bad news..Snowman is alive but he messed up really badly. We live on a ranch with ranch animals, such as chickens, ducks, geese, etc. We came home one night and found 6 chickens dead, and he was standing over one of them. The way hes been acting, and the way he acts around the chickens, and the way they act around him in comparison to normally, we know he did it. He surprisingly didn't eat any of them, but just made some have a heart attack and broke a few of their necks. Im not sure what his intentions were but we have no choice but to put him up for adoption now. Ive been asking all my friends if they wanted him, and if they wont take him, were going to take him to Fuzzy Friends in waco. I believe as long as the person who adopts him doesnt have any poultry or chickens etc. he should be fine, and hes great with cats. Up until now he was a great dog, extremely caring, playful, a little destructive, but mostly like chewing on sticks and stuff. He knows a few tricks as of now and knows basic commands, but if anyone on here would like him please pm me. As of right now he is 54-58lbs and 9 months ish. Has had almost all of his shots, and been neutered. Heres a few pictures of him. (ill have em up when my phone stops crapping out)

Ill admit i fucked up in my reading somehow, and thought you said that, my bad. My brother is, has been, and always will be, a ****** doushe. No matter what. The reason why my parents seem to think otherwise, i believe, is because of my older dog Copper. Copper i guess was too easy for us, he was trained in the normal time, but we have never had to really correct him on chasing any animals that arent on 4 legs. Copper chases deer, but never has he chased any bird, and the reason why we thought snowman wouldnt is because he never even looked like he wanted to before this.

Hey may not have been interested in birds or chickens while you guys are around, but once a dog is left alone for a period of time, who knows what happens. They get bored so they figured they'd mess with the chickens or see you guys aren't around so they see what they can get away with. Especially younger dogs, they're going to get in trouble and they don't know any better.

Much to my bemusement, it would seem by the almighty power of the interweb, the absolute Best way to solve this chicken killing dog of yours is too.... ( drumroll)......
Tie and secure the dead carcass around his neck. Be sure he can't get to it but can eat and drink regular food and water. Let said carcass stay around his neck for about a week until the chicken gets really nasty and smelly. Holy ****, this sounds extreme but supposedly works and is no way harming your dog, who FYI is acting like a normal dog when it comes to any type fowl.
Dogs are carnivours by nature. Hard to correct that instinct..

Exactly. Try training the prey instinct out of something like an Alaskan Malamute. Not going to happen. This breed is as close to it's original form as a dog can be and they are fully capable of feeding themselves and they know it. Absolute repulsion very well may be the only way.

Not a joke. The dead chicken around the neck thing. Found it on farmers/ranch animals forum. I would never be able, as alot of responses to that forum also stated, to do it cause my dog is a house dog.
Another suggestion on that forum is to acclimate the dog with chickens while collared and taught not to react to the birds at all. Takes time and patience. Lots of time and patience..
Best advice was to keep em separated.. either chickens in coup, or the dog fenced in..
Dogs are predators by nature after many years of evolution.. You really can't stop it. Dog + chicken= tasty dinner.. Not the dogs fault. That's hard wired in for survival purposes. Everything else be damned...
Also most people would not have a problem getting rid of the dog and keeping the chickens alive. Just depends on your lively hood. You need eggs to make money, then bye bye doggy..
