Default I Pulled a Guy from a Burning Car *PIC NOW*

Pretty crazy wreck and a good example of why not to drink and drive.

Last night I arrived at a party with my designated driver and several other friends that were in different cars at roughly eleven o'clock. We were on the back patio and hanging around the driveway area as people were still arriving. I was half way through my first Shiner bock, standing there talking on the side of the house by the driveway when we hear and then see a car flying down the road.

I saw the headlights of the car and then not a split second later I hear BOOM POW POW and can see the headlights of the car 'jerk' in the darkness and then the car flips and turns three times in the road. He had hit something and then hit the ditch where the driveway connects to the road, then fliped and landed on the other side of the driveway facing the opposite direction in the road. My first fear was that it was someone we knew that was comming to the party. I was almost afraid to run down there becuase I didn't even want to find out. I threw my beer down and start to run across the yard to the road. I hear someone yell "call 911", as I'm running I grab my phone and try to dial but I get to the truck first. As I'm running up I see a fire under the engine compartment. The passenger side is facing where I'm running. All of the window glass is shattered. I try to open the door but it's stuck from being smashed. I am afraid to look in the cab because I still don't know who it is inside or what there condition is. I look in anyway and it's a middle aged white guy just jumbled up, kind of in the fetal position on what's left of the driver's side of the cab, not moving much at all. One of my friends starts trying to open the the same door, I run into the ditch around to the driver's side, it's worse off than the passenger, I can't even get to the door becuase the truck is almost on its side. The whole time I'm thinking that we need to get him out becuase the truck is on fire, but this guy could have spine problems. I can see through the back window that he starts moving more and my friend grabs his arm and starts to try and drag him out through the passenger side window. I run back to the passenger side, we get his seat belt undone. As we get him through the window I try to focus on keeping his back straight but we don't do a good job for the fact that were carrying him up a ditch.

We lay him on the ground about 25 feet from the truck. We ask him some simple questions, I ask him to move his toes since he doesn't have shoes on. He keeps asking for water, I actually told him "You'll be hard pressed to find water with this group." as I was bent over looking at him. I suspect the guy is drunk off his *** at this time becuase he's more than just confused and stuff how people get from wrecks, he's not listening and repeating **** over and over. A police officer comes shortly after, we back off and let him handle it. It took nearly ten to fifteen minutes for an ambulance to get there. The truck turns into a bonfire, the tires blow, nothing from the gas tank though, took forever for a fire truck to arrive. I look at my phone and I was only able to dial #9 while I had ran towards the truck, I notice some blood on my hand. The guy's only visible wound was a cut on his head and I don't think it was from him but it wasn't my blood.

My buddies and I tell our hero stories for a while. Since were uncompasionate basterds, I grabed another shiner bock from the cooler and we watched the truck burn to a crisp while and ambulance, fire truck, police, and wrecker are in the road and drive way and we play beer pong on the back patio.

Cliff notes: Some guy was driving drunk, crashed, we pulled him out of his burning truck. Thought it made for a good story.

Edit: Damn that is long. I will try to get a friend's cell phone picture that he took of the aftermath.

We think that if we hadn't been outside and right there, he wouldn't have gotten out. It wasn't but a few minutes that we layed him on the ground till most of the car was in flames and then within ten minutes is was basically a complete fireball.

Thanks. But you know any of yall would have done the same thing. LOL when we had the guy on the ground me and another guy were trying to ask him questions and check him for injuries. Some dumb bitch was standing right there beside him with some of the other guys and said "OMG did you see that guy wreck." What kind of dumbass comment is that? The guy is on the ground moaning not three feet from her. The other guy checking assesing the guy looked at here and said "STFU AND GTFOuttahere"

One of my friends sent me a cell phone pic of the truck burning. It's not a very good picture but I'd like to post it. Just looks like a bonfire in the dark. Lol, but since i'm not so computer/tech savy, I don't know how to get it from my phone to the computer. I've got a LG Glimmer, any tips? I thought about taking a picture of the picture on my phone with my camera, but thats kind of a dumbass way of doing it.

I know exactly what you mean about that stupid bitch. When I totalled my GTO and took out a powerline, some dumb-*** lady walked up to the accident and started to complain that 'her cable was out' and wanted to know when it was 'going to be fixed'. Needless to say, before I could take a breath, my best friend told her where to go and how to get there... and she did it something fierce. That was the only time I grinned that entire night. The stupidity of the masses never ceases to amaze me.

By the way, I want to thank you for making your story easy on the eyes and therefore making it easier to read.

not to be insensetive, but karma's a bitch when you drive drunk. shining example why not to do it.

good job saving the man though. betcha he won't drive drunk, or drive again for that matter, in the future.

I would like to know what happened to him. I think he will end up being fine. When we were standing around watching the truck burn and after the paramedics got there a few people said he was in serious condition. I think it was just rumor or speculation, he seemed fairly fine to me, but I'm no doctor. The last I saw of him was when they put in on a back-board onto a stretcher and into the ambulance. He never got up or moved much after we layed him on the grass so he very well could have been fucked up.

I GOT THE PICTURE!!!! It's a crappy *** cell phone picture though. So, you can obviously see the huge fire, which is the burning truck. This is all looking across the yard where I ran towards the road. It is sort of framed by those two trees, pretty much directly behind the thicker tree on the left is where we carried the guy to. I'm not sure if that dark figure to the left of that is the cop or not. Looks like this is right after the cop arrived from the size of the fire. The silver car, middle left, is actually my designated driver's car. From the right of the frame of the picture, about 50 feet, is the driveway and the direction from which the guy came.
