Yeah.. The media coverage of this "epidemic" is a little over the top. IIRC, NORMAL flu kills on average 500k-1 million people per year, so swine flu doesn't even come close. And even if swine flu approached that level, it still wouldn't be as bad as the flu epidemic that struck in 1918. That was a TRUE worst-case scenario, with between 20-40 million dead in one year. In fact, a quick search shows that more people were killed in that year by flu than were killed in the 4 years that the bubonic plague devastated Europe. So this latest "epidemic" with less than 300 dead doesn't worry me one bit. BTW, there is NO vaccine out yet for those that think that one is available. There are medications to treat it yes, but not to get rid of it completely.

300 million people, 92 confirmed cases= .00003% of US citizens have swine flu, 36000 people die from the regular flu every year in the us (cnn). its just like the peanut butter scare where your chance of getting sick was .0001%, people just need something to worry about

We'll have to see how it plays out. I bet the pharmaceutical company that makes the drug that supposedly cures swine flu is as happy as a pig in ****!
