Having the stomach flu really sucks
threw up 3 times at work and ran off with diarrhea four times. I went to Oakwood emergency last night around 12. They stuck an iv in my arm for about an hour and half and sent me home. I am weak as **** and still cant even hold down Vernors.
Its kind of weird because i had just left the hospital earlier from visiting my mom. She has been diagnosed with pneumonia. I wonder if i caught something from her. Is the stomache flu contaigious?

i had the stomach flu a few weeks ago. it was strong for about 3 days, but i had stomach problems with not being able to really eat normally and go to the bathroom regularly for about a week. theres been an abnormally large amount of flu cases this year (as with every year so the "experts" say). just keep drinking tons of water and get your rest is about all ya can do til you feel better which is hopefully soon!

Yep, definitely going around. Gastroenteritis is what they called it when my fiance had to go to the ER with it. She got dehydrated because she couldn't keep anything in. Her blood pressure when we got her there was extremely low, like 5X/3X, something like that. We were there for about 6 hours and she got 3 bags of sugar water. They told us that they were getting 50-100 cases of that a day in the ER.
Then the next week, I came down with the same thing, couldn't keep anything in. I made it to the doctor sooner to get something to control the nausea, which clearly helped with keeping fluids in to keep from dehydrating. Mine lasted about 4 days, with the last day just mainly being the sour stomach feeling all day. After that, I was fine. That was a week and a half ago. That was definitely the worst I had ever felt.

I just read this:
'Stomach Flu' Rips Through the Nation[b]
By Anita Manning
USA Today
(Jan. 9) - Stomach viruses tearing through communities from California to the Carolinas wrecked the December holidays for some, and they are getting the new year off to an uncomfortable start for others.
Notable Outbreaks
Norovirus can linger for days on surfaces such as children's toys, keyboards, telephones and doorknobs, and both vomit and stool are highly infectious.
Containing Norovirus: Strategies
Talk About It: Post Thoughts
The most likely culprits, experts say, are noroviruses, the most common cause of contagious gastroenteritis, better known as the "stomach flu." Cases occur every winter, but health officials say that in recent weeks they have seen two to three times as many cases as usual.
The virus, best known as the cause of cruise ship outbreaks, is easy to catch, hard to wipe out and seems to be everywhere at once.
Last week, San Quentin State Prison closed to new prisoners and visitors after nearly 500 inmates and guards fell ill with vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, headaches and low fever. Similar symptoms have been plaguing staff and residents of nursing homes in several states. College and pro athletes have missed games. Hundreds of patients have sought help in emergency rooms since mid-December. Nearly 400 people on a Caribbean cruise last month and 700 on a trans-Atlantic cruise in November were stricken, according to Associated Press reports.
Norovirus infection usually clears up after two or three days, but medical epidemiologist Marc-Alain Widdowson, a norovirus expert at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, says the misery of those days shouldn't be dismissed.
"When you're ill, you're really ill," he says. "People (can) vomit 20 times a day."
Norovirus can be spread through contaminated food or water, causing large outbreaks. About half of food-borne diseases are thought to be caused by norovirus, the CDC says.
I would not wish that virus on anyone....

All you can do is grab the Lysol disinfectant spray and wash your hands. No one is immune to it.
