Way too much media hype, once again making way too many people freak out over something that is insignificant.

Just like the killer mold, the staff infection plague, and all of the other bullshit. There's always some kind of OMG END OF THE WORLD pandemic going on.

I'm not worried.

If I feel sick then I'll go to the doctor. They already have medication to treat it.

She is only seven months old so she is my only worry about it. If she was older I wouldn't be as concerned. I'll just go to the dr. if I feel sick. She can hardly take anything for a cold.

To put it in perspective the avain flu infected around 300 confirmed people in 3 years and killed around 170

since march there are about 300 confirmed cases of swine flu and thousands of suspected cases and 154 people have died

this could be just getting started and it's already worse than bird flu

I'd definatley be more concerned for children, but I guess the only thing you can do is moniter any possible symptoms and keep them away from any people who appear to be sick.

I'm not worried about it. I have a great immune system. I am worried about my 78 year old grandmother getting it if there are any confirmed cases in Florida. I think she's the only person in my family who wouldn't be able to fight it off.

Thats the thing many of the deaths associated with swine flu are in the age group 25 to 45 the normally healthy people

that's what gotten alot of people scared because past pandemics effected that age group

Normally a flu strain will not bother a healthy adult because they have immune systems that are fuctioning at thier prime

when a virus comes along that starts killing that age group you have a problem because it means normal immune defence isn't stopping it so a 75 year old granny has as much of a chance as a 25 year old track athelete

I'm more worried with the drug war going on at the boarder of Mexico and Texas than a stupid cold that you can take medicine for haha. The deaths from this flu have been in Mexico I don't know about other countries but there haven't been any here. People that got it here have been treated and recovered.. no reason to worry about it

I have might have said this already ...

But when I was in the Army I caught sepsis and almost died. They gave me two choices for the treatment they were going to give me. Option 1: The standard treatment or Option 2: Something not mainstream and still being tested but way better results. It was IV dripped with 3 IV bags over about 1 week.

I chose option 2 and have not been sick sense other than headaches. True story, and the short version. It was the worst 2 weeks of my life. Dont wish that upon anyone.

I laugh at swine flu.

My immune system is so advanced its like from that eppisode of Star Trek TNG where those genetically altered human's immune system seeks out and destroys threats outside of the body! Take that bitches!

Sorry I don't mean to be critical but sepsis is not something you catch, it is actually something you develop. It is a system wide syndrome that is caused by a primary infection that has gone untreated. There are several treatments depending on the primary infection cause but the Army was probably using you as a guniea pig.

Back to swine flu, it's not as big a deal as everyone is going on about. Thousands of people die every year from flu, it just isn't sensationalized. The deaths in Mexico are mostly from lack of proper care and resources. The people at most risk here are the ones at biggest risk from regular flu, the elderly, the very young and the immuno-compromised.

Be smart...WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN!!! Stay home when you are sick. And see a doctor at the first signs of flu symptoms so you don't spread it.

Take care and try not to freak out.

I wouldn't mind a little real life Resident Evil action.

Not worried one bit. Everyone just feels the need to be worried about something, this is the newest thing I guess.

................kay? Well whatever it was, however I got it, it almost killed me. Makes sense though because ......

The morning after doing PT I started to feel sick. We had gone running through the woods. By the end of the day, during evening formation (AIT) I puked. Ended up going to the ER, recieved an IV with saline and ibprofen with some anti vomit stuff. ******* Army, water and ibprofen cures everything.

Anyway after 24hours of quaters and getting worse. Puking every hour on the hour, like damn clockwork all through the night lol. Crapped my pants with the craps. My roomate finally got sick of my puking and shitting so took me downstairs to see the DS. Ended up going back to the hospital barely able to move.

Got there and they took my temp, it was some outrageous number. Took my blood preasure and it was some super low # lol. For my troubles I got a tube in my **** and a spinal tap.

Tried to do a main IV that took forever to stick my grion area. I swear to god they stuck bone a couple times. Guess my viens were starting to collapse or something they said. Hard to get it in.

And I told you the rest. My favorite part was not being able to get **** all for sleep. Getting woken up every 10 minutes to get blood drawn was the gay. They were taking it outta the main IV in my grion and/or my 3 other IVs in my arms. But at one point I guess the main line became clotted and almost couldnt flush it. They scared the crap outta me when they said they might have to redo it. I was like

Anyway there is the long version.

I think the main concern is this flu isn't being treated properly in Mexico. They won't even pick up sick people in ambulances because they are scared of the swine flu. There is no cure for this strain yet, and it will take months to find one, but conventional treatments will work for most healthy adults.. Flu viruses change form every year, from bird flu's to swine flu's. But if you can get the majority of the people treated with at least something, then they can narrow down the antivirus that will be most effective, until the next strain evolves.. I do believe this may be overreaction, BUT, still needs plenty of monitoring. Mainly because flu season should be over with.. Not just starting..
