Default Whadda crappy weekend!

Been going back and forth with the city, county, and homeowners association for deck plans. Long story short, a 28' x 16' deck that was already over-engineerd, the county wants a **** ton more holes, ranging in size from 12" to 18", 36" deep. 3 18" holes for support for a hot tub. Went yesterday to rent the one man auger, and then was supposed to go get my windows tinted while I waited on a buddy of mine to help dig the holes. The tint man said he had to reschedule. Started digging holes, and broke one of the teeth off the auger bit on the 3rd hole. Ended up getting 3.5 more done with a posthole digger. Still have 13.5 to go, which will be done by hand. $100 for an auger that I used for three holes. Luckily, I did spend the extra $11 for insurance, otherwise i'd be buying a $400 or $500 bit. Woke up this morning sore as hell and sick. Slept all day, and now wont be able to go to sleep. Will probably feel worse tomorrow.

Hopefully next weekend will be better.

just do it by hand. lol.

those post -hole diggers work great, just keep at it. Ive put in hundreds of holes with those, just dig down a foot, fill it with water, move to the next, dig a foot, fill it with water, after you have 4-5 dug go back to the first one and put it down another foot, add in some more water, move to the next.

you should be able to pull 5 2ft deep holes out in about an hour

The rest will be done by hand. The ground is extremely wet right now, and I am hitting clay about a foot down. It's heavier than hell, and hard as hell to get off the post hole digger. I got to go out in a rain/snow mix today to clean up the auger, gas it up, and attach the "a-frame" type thing to tow it back in the morning.

If I had it to do all over again, I'd have a concrete pad poured, put pavers over top of it, and be done with it.

That sounds like an awesome way to spend the weekend. I was at the beach, rode some jetskis, and did work.

I mowed my grass for the first time. It was 2ft tall. Found out what a 5.5hp Toro does to a tennis ball... 3 times. Note to self, don't let the grass get that tall. You're likely to find something.

w0rd on the regulation being kinda nuts. Me and my pop built a house about 18 years ago. Put the plumbing in to code. Inspector comes out and says, nope drop that pipe 1/16" more. It's just not quiiiiiiite perfect. Had to cut 45' of pipe out and put it back in 1/16" lower at the origin. Whaddafuggincock.

Lmao. I don't understand the crap they do for codes sometimes. Like if you add on to your house you HAVE to plumb it here. Whether you want a bathroom or not, you have to make the plumbing for it.....WTF...

My father and I had to do all of the posts for their deck by hand. Once you go down about a foot or two around here, it's nothing but solid clay all the way down. Well, I should say clay and rocks.. The number of rocks was truly unbelievable.

Yea, well, it's gonna suck til I get the holes dug and the posts in, then it's not so bad. Once I get the hot tub on there, I'll be even better.

Yea, the things they have you do for code is- well, some of it's understandable, but alot of it is complete and total bullshit. Audi- yea, the soil is about the same here.

Then to top it all off, my very nice and helpful neighbor hooked the auger to his hitch and took it back to the rental place. On his way back, a lady flew out of a grocery store parking lot and t-boned him in his Dodge Ram. The truck is totalled. They are supposed to leave Friday for Daytona in it...not gonna happen now.
