Let me break it down for you:

When cops shoot radar at cars in front or behind you, some of the radar waves bounce in all directions which your radar detector picks up and alerts you to slow down. This doesn't mean that you've been tagged with the radar detector, just that someone within an x mile radius has.

When cops shoot the laser, instead of bouncing all over the place like the radar guns do, it bounces directly back at the police officer giving him a reading and not alerting anyone else. That means that if your laser detector goes off, you've been the one hit and it's already too late.

you can't hide them. I think you got confused when I say I hide mine when I'm parked. When your using a radar detector is has to be mounted on the windshield, etc to have a clear view of the road/out the windows. I just take mine down when I'm parked in hopes of it not gaining a thief's attention

I always just took it down so the hot sun doesn't burn it to pieces.

It will pick up lazer even if you are not the one being hit. Its just that if you get hit and your speeding your fucked with lazer. A good radar detector and a smart driver will do good out on the open roads. You have to know when you and when you should not speed. Since i got the v1 5 years ago I have not had a ticket.

Thank you! My best friend was riding with me the other day and she said 'oh, your radar isn't going off'. I had to tell her that a radar detector doesn't just alert when a cop is in the vicinity, that the gun has to be on. It's amazing how many people complain about how their radar detectors 'don't work' and don't even think about that little bit of information.

Can you quit bolding things unnecessarily? Nothing against you man, but that is just flat out annoying.

Its a fantastic radar detector for sure. I love mine and it has saved me a lot of money for sure. Its just that the detector alone will not save a stupid driver. If you weave in and out of traffic, don't use your turn signals, speed way faster then the flow of traffic, etc.. makes you stand out. Because I am smart and do not speed 24/7. I know when I should and should not go over the limit. Because there are times when you are fine and others when you should not. The key to getting away with speeding is blending into the traffic. Once you can learn to do that you will be golden.

No tickets and I saved money on the radar detector by not getting one and just being an observant drive

Yeah I never weave, or not use turn signals... just happened to be the unlucky mustang they pulled over out of the group.
