Michael Phelps

How do they expect too much out of them, they just expect them not to do drugs. Performance enhancing or not.

Most potheads are......
Phelps is an idiot, he looks, acts, and talks like a pothead.. No one seriously saw this coming? I mean really, have you guys seen the Rosetta stone commercial? He's lucky that he has something like to keep himself employed.

While what he did is without a doubt stupid and careless, it doesn't affect his talent, is what I'm trying to say. Who cares if he smoked a little and isn't a role model for kids anymore? Who the hell is a perfect role model, anyway? I don't know about anyone else, but I can say that I don't know of one person who is a perfect role model.
The problem isn't the weed. The problem was Michael Phelps stupidity with using it in the open, where someone took a picture. He should have kept it in the privacy of his own home, away from prying eyes of others.

I mean they expect too much out of them in the context of that they're more human than human. They expect them to never slip up and make any mistakes. They expect them to be perfect in every context, especially when the 'star' is geared towards children. When they find a mistake, they make it the sun. They'd probably blow it out of proportion if they heard him say a cuss word and we'd be having this same discussion.

Glad I'm not alone on that. My dad is a damn pothead & I can't fukn stand him as far as respect goes. Getting away from it all was the best thing i did then.

I understand what you're saying but it is not the same. This is the internet. NewEdge's life, career, and future won't be ruined. Nor will mine or Zig's, yours, Stephen's, King's, or anyone else who went back and forth with him. He's going on his merry, ******* way. He was insulting us for no reason at all. He completely deserved it and brought it upon himself for the same reason, stupidity. Stupidity should be the 8th deadly sin.
We aren't 'stars' on here. We're no ones role models (with the exception of those that have kids), some of us are friends, but that's about it. What happened to Michael Phelps is in real life, therefore, it is different. The ramifications being brought against him will basically ruin him and that is just ridiculous. He didn't do anything horrible. For *****'s sake, he didn't rape or kill anyone. He smoked a little weed. Big deal. He wasn't hurting anyone. He just made a mistake out in the open.

you're scared of pot? thats just plain ignorant, if you were serious about that statement.

I'm not directing this towards anyone. Just because someone does drugs, that does not mean they are a bad person. They just made a stupid mistake and keep making the same stupid mistake if they are an addict. It doesn't mean they are underserving of love and respect.
I have a friend who was a heroin addict for 3 years. I loved her thoughout her addiction, but it was difficult to be around her. I tended to just maybe see her once a week or so, to make sure she was okay. She stopped cold turkey and hasn't done it in 4 years. She also went to rehab. I couldn't be more proud of her. I respect her for it, too, because that is a hard thing to do.

I'd say it'd be more ignorant to smoke it than it would ever be to be afraid of it. Since you want to go that route.

Is your dad just a complete piece of **** or something? (Really none of my business, I'm just wondering is all.) My mother was a drug addict and I would never dream of disrespecting her in any way while she was alive. I would have never left her either, and she did far worse things than weed.

Haha, my Dad is a big time pothead too. I'm talking Wal-mart size bags of weed in his desk in the shop at home. Although lately he has started keeping it in a locked toolbox. He hits it every day. I know what you mean about the respect thing. I wish there were times where he wouldn't smoke, it clouds his thoughts and actions.

My dad isn't a pothead, but he smokes now and then. I'd say once a month or so. I have a lot of friends who are big time potheads. My mom smoked every day, among other things.
The way I see it is that I'd rather be around a happy pothead than a pissed off drunk. People could be doing much worse things than smoking a doobie with their friends while laughing about every stupid little thing. It just doesn't bother me.
I've never seen anyone on the floor after smoking weed, passed out, puking on themselves like I have when people are drunk. I've never seen anyone in a bad mood starting **** with everyone after they smoke. I've never seen anything put anybody down like alcohol does (which is why I don't drink, either).

I used to smoke pot... i guess i just grew out of it. Ill still blaze once once or twice a year if somone ends up having some. but thats really it.
I found that if i start smoking a lot i have a hard time conceptualizing and analyzing things. Since that is what my job demands of me, i found that smoking weed just made me worse at my job. I like to stay sharp.
I dont mean to be high and mighty about it, because I am probabaly a borderline achoholic
lol

I DISAGREE 100%.
So Phelps is seen, taking a hit out of a bong. So what? The man was at a college party, having fun.
Phelps is not a pothead. A pothead is somone who uses weed everday of their life, and accomplishes nothing.

Yea, the Canadian weed just does that to you........i would say its my fault but its not....its the voices.
secondly, i kinda feel like if your dad is blazing......he made it that far in life, what could be the harm if he like buzzin out every now and again.

truthfully im trying to cut back. im just sayin i think weed isnt really such a bad thing... it makes people love one another. ever hear of the curse of jack daniels? alcohol pisses some people right off. its broken up many marriages, but yea its probably started a few too...and at one time it was also illegal.
imho i think its not too long before we(canadians) legalize it. our flag is already a dam leaf.....what more do you want?
