Michael Phelps
I'm sure most of you heard about Michael Phelps being photographed while taking a hit out of a bong. I could give a crap about him smoking pot, but that picture is going to cost him millions. Here we go with him losing his endorsements!

Portland, Ore.—Cereal and snack maker Kellogg Co. says it will not renew its sponsorhip contract with Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps because he has acknowledged smoking marijuana last fall. The Battle Creek, Mich.-based company said Thursday that Phelps's behavior—caught on camera and published Sunday—is "not consistent with the image of Kellogg."
The company put Phelps on boxes of its Frosted Flakes and Corn Flakes.
Phelps has kept the backing of many sponsors since the photos surfaced that showed him inhaling from a marijuana pipe.
Phelps's agent was not immediately available to comment.
Kellogg says its contract with Phelps expires at the end of the month.

as if they planned to renew anyways. i mean really, who the hell is NOT sick of hearing about Phelps?
yeah, he swims fast.
yeah
he runs fast
Sweet, he got a shitton of medals! Congfats! American Hero!
But he is done. He is through, his 15 minutes of fame is long since past.
He has been training for like 10 years, doesent he deserve a break?
And what moron is gonna smoke pot with a guy who has the lung capacity of a dolphin? he can probably inhale a whole joint in a single hit.

LMAO....Never would have thought of it that way. Oh, and c'mon Michael...next time, use a one-hitter- it's much less obvious. Well, that's what I hear, anyway.

I don't care what they do in there off time. Hell I do not care what he did in the Olympics. I think M. Jordon was the best athlete ever and I don't even like basketball at all. He was good at everything he did.

He would definitely be smoking his own!!!

Especially baseball.

Its that idea ^^^ that they feel kids will believe & they're all over him to set an example. Setting an example that smoking pot is not okay may be annoying to some, but is entirely necessary. By the way, if you b smokin' it you are an idiot.

Michael Phelps is UGLY as hell. I don't understand some women's fixations on him.
In regards to the story, I don't really care what he does. Not my business, not my concern. It's his life, he can do what he wants and talent is talent, no matter what the person does in their spare time and personal life. Michael Phelps definitely has talent. So what if Kellogg is ending their sponsorship with him? He's still made for life because of that talent.
Kind of like Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, my favorite singer and my favorite band. As most of you who know of that band are aware of, he was a crack and heroin addict, but my god, he could ******* sing. He was constantly scrutinized because of his abuse and ended up dying of an overdose at the age of 34. I just get tired of people saying **** like 'oh, he was a heroin addict'. Does that mean he can't sing? No. What he did was his business. His personal life. Even though I didn't agree with it, who the hell am I to judge? His substance abuse didn't affect my opinion of him or his incredible talent; his voice. He is one reason why I stay away from all drugs and I silently thank him for that every day.
That is just one problem I have with drugs. I don't like any hard drugs. I don't see a problem when people use them recreationally. However, recreational use and abuse are two different things, and recreational use often leads to abuse. Unfortunately, some people have addictive personalities and can't differentiate between the two and don't have the willpower to stop something toxic before it starts. But now I'm just rambling on, so I'll go ahead and stop.

I think it was a bad decision on his part, mostly for smoking around someone who would take a picture of him and post it on the internet. I don't think it is so bad to smoke pot, it doesn't make him any less of an athelete, just less of a role model for kids, which is why Kellogs dropped the endorsement.
While on vacation in 2004 Michael Phelps took a swim in the Indian Ocean, a quarter million people died in the wake. (could use a revision)

01FR500, I totally get what you're saying and I completely agree. I just don't think any child will say 'I don't like Michael Phelps anymore because he smoked weed' unless their parents specifically instructed them to say that or unless their parents are fans. Hell, they probably won't even notice he's not on the boxes anymore because they change them so often. I'm not saying they should keep sponsoring him, because I don't think they should. I'm just saying that I don't think some kids are even aware of this. For the kids that are, I feel sorry for them, but I hope that's when he becomes an inspiration in a different way... to keep them away from drugs.

I've never done any drug in my life. I've never even smoked a cigarette. And no, I'm not kidding. I've just seen too many people lose everything over drugs. I've even known some to lose their lives. It's not something I want to gamble with.

I agree, there are not many kids or aspiring atheletes out there that are going to be affected by it. But this is just something to that takes Phelps down a peg that could have been avoided. A stain on his character or public appearance. Doesn't change if he is a good guy, people will think of him a little different.
