****, hell, damn! I need to use that program, too. I have never gotten back more than $350. I have a full time job for almost 6 years now, too! Also, I have no kids and I am (by law) single.

I've often wondered how much more I could get back. My dad does my taxes, so I'll ask him about it.

Yeah I made more than 50k last year and I got back about 300-500, I'm going to start claiming my car as a dependant. When you said you used turbo tax... are they the ones that offer than new free online tax service or did you have to pay?

turbo tax didnt find money for me, LOL. TT just allowed me to do my taxes in minutes and its retard easy which is perfect for me, LOL. just to give you an idea why my return is 960..i made 25k and paid 3000 in taxes i over paid by the amount above. i dont make much taxable income in the miltary but i get COLA, BAH, BAS, free med/den and all of that is TAX FREE.

i plan to break even next year because my cash deposit still has a nice interest rate and i could really use the 100 bucks a month to go towards that.

i paid a prcessing fee so its not exactly free.

i claimed 0 on my w-4 so thats why i got back so much for little money. like i said i made adjustments to my w-4 so i wont get back so much. if i had a kid i would get back some mad scrill.

Actually, from a finance standpoint you don't want to get back any money. The money you get back was originally yours to begin with. What you basically did was give the government an interest-free loan. If you had the correct amount of money taken out of your paycheck, you would have been able to invest the money somewhere and gotten more money back than you originally had.

Interesting, I get over $1,000, I don't know what to be exact. I don't use those places you can go to because they charge you. I get mine done from some other place where it's free no charge.

Now I want to know how much I get.

Waiting on my last W2 from one of the companies I worked for this year. THen I'll turn those into my grandma and she'll do them.

Last year I ended up with a little over a grand.. and I didn't make much.. this year I should end up with a large chunk more.

I'm single, no kids as well..

How much do you get back usually if you work full time +? I'm still trying to figure out roughly how much I will get back. First time actually working a full year with taxes being taken out and I've had overtime.

We filed yesterday with Turbo Tax. Between us we paid over 20 grand in taxes, but at least we're gonna get a $1700+ refund this year. It will be in the bank in 5 days..

we got $700 last year, and had to pay the year before that..

That sucks. Luckily my work, hospital as well, has the W2s up online before they send them out. Turned all of our tax stuff in to our tax guy last week. Should have everything done early this week. Will be interested to see what we get back with being married now and having a house.

dang, I haven't received anything yet. Good thing most of you don't live in Cali cause I guess the state might give us IOU's on tax rebates cause we are so broke.

I'm not expecting to get anything back anyway. I claim too much on my pay check just to make it each month.

Did you buy your house between like April 2008 to present? We just bought this house last June, and get a $7500 tax credit on top of what we'd normally get. At first, it was basically like an "interest free loan" which would be paid back 500 a year, but now for a stimulus type thing, it might not have to be paid back at all!

Id love to get a supercharger for the Mustang, but I have to build a deck, and I need to buy some stuff for my other "project car".

Heres the car...Long story short- I was building the Cobra, then we bought the house. I agreed to avoid the "Cobra fund" for awhile- but not for a year. After it had been 12 months, I went and bought the red Mustang basically just to **** her off.

Bikerskaterkid- I dont know alot about it. A friend is the brains behind the operation. I have helped him build a couple, and after the holes are dug- yea, it aint that bad afterwards. LOL As for taxes, it depends on what you claim, what rate your employer pays, etc.. There are too many variances

And to Stephen- Hell yea, Go Publix! Got family in New Port Richey that have worked there for over 20 years.

Yeah I do construction, almost any trade, but I don't like doing Concrete. Also depends on what kind of deck you want and what type of wood or whatever. I claimed 1 because I'm just a single kid, haha. I don't know there rates, but I make $11.50 an hour with a raise to come. All I know is we pay Taxes out of our checks, Washington pays Taxes on what they buy.

Stephen - Do you like work at Publix?

It all depends on how much you make vs. how much they take. You have to have the right balance of deductions from your pay vs. what you're actual taxable income is. It's a very delicate line there, and in a perfect world, you would have paid exactly as much taxes as your income predicts you should have paid. Zero, is the perfect number your reaching for as far as refund money back vs taxes paid.. But, It will never ever work like that. This ain't a perfect world, and the economy sucks right now..

They take about $400 + out a month for taxes. Yeah I wish the economy didn't suck right now because I want to quit, haha.

We got screwed cause we got our house like March 13th 2008. It's all good though because they are just going to take that $7500 out of your tax return over the next few years.

It all depends on how much money you make, what deductions you have and such. When you don't make much money you usually get a lot of your taxes back.

By the way, tax guy finished our taxes and we are getting like $7K back. I'm stoked, I was assuming we'd get back around $3K or so. Now we can pay off our new AC and I don't have to worry about paying anything out of my pocket.haha

I dunno...They are trying to make it so it does not have to be paid back. Even if it doesnt end up happening that way, it's still not a bad deal. It would be took out over 15 years, $500 a year. Hell, if nothing else, just let it sit in the bank. If you need it, it's there, if you don't need it, use it to pay it back, and make interest off of it in the process. I believe April 1st was the starting date, but who knows what will happen. I wouldnt get my hopes up too much, but before it's over with, it could change. Afterall, they are already trying to extend the date...why couldnt they go back on the other end a little?
