Default Which beater?

Could really use some feedback. I went car shopping today and found that the beater market has been raped and what is left is severly over priced. I found 2 possibilities.

Option 1: A 2002 Kia Rio, with 120k and beaten like a yard dog. Price is $2k. The car had just been traded and had not even been washed. The check engine light was on and there is a clanging noise underneath, and the ac doesn't work but it's only $2k.

Option 2: A 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora with 81k and in good condition for $5k. It's a bigger car than I had been looking for but it does have all the bells and whistles and has a clean carfax report. Just not sure if I want to go to $5k.

Option 3: Wait for something else.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

NO TO THE RIO!

I wouldnt pay more than 1500 for one that was a year newer with 10k less miles with no check engine light

those kia rios are garbage, pure garbage.

i dont have much experience with the oldsmobile

yer not going to stealerships are you?

my rec, if you want something good on gas for cheap, go with an old honda.

i picked up a 1984 civic with 100,000 miles for $1,100.

yeah, i had to replace the clutch, and put in a new exhaust pipe cause the old one was rusted but all in all the car has worked awesome, gets 40mpg on the highway, and is easy as hell to work on

check out craigslist.com and look there. you can usually find old hondas between 84-89 for around 100k miles for under 2 grand.

they are ugly, but they run damn near forever and are cheap as hell ot fix.

but for the love of god stay away from KIA

Just got the g/f a 2000 auto focus with 85k miles for $2,800 everything works and came with 4 new tires. All I had to do was fix the door locks, and a harmonic balancer that was going bad. Keep looking there are lots of good deals out there. I would suggest looking on craigslist.org thats where I got the focus.

Keep looking. I hate KIA for alot of various reasons, other than being just crap. And the Aurora is expensive and won't get very good gas mileage.

Thanks alot. You all put a the words to one of the little voices in my head. Wasn't really liking either one but wanted to hear it from outside my head.

I think I will go with option 3 and keep looking. Found some more possibles on craiglist, so thanks again for the advice.

It's good to have a sounding board that isn't just going to tell me what I want to hear. Husbands are notorious for that.

yeah my vote would be to keep looking. I just bought a beater today actually. I paid 1200 for a 98 toyota with 130k ok the ticker! Its a nice car though. craigslist would be the best bet i think. they always have deals on there. or www.autotrader.com.

If you truly wanted to get going the proper response would have been:
"Honey that shirt is fantastic, you look amazing don't change a thing I love it"

Women need ego strokes too!! It falls into the category of "Of course you're the best", "Damn that's huge", and "It happens to everybody"

That's the plan for now and if I could find something that wouldn't make my butt look big...price would not be a consideration
