Ipod Help
I posted over on the apple forums, but no one seems to respond. I just got a new computer and when I plug in my ipod (about 800 songs) it will only transfer the songs i bought on Itunes (about 20). How the hell do i transfer my entire library from my old computer to my new computer? It should be as easy as plugging in my Ipod and transferring them all but its not. Any help?

there should be a search for music thing right, aand it will have to convert all the files from MP3 to WMA (i think wma)... actually it doesent convert them, it makes copies of them.
see, the ipod does not work with Mp3. At least, my wifes sure aas hell diddnt, and my 7.8 gigs of music balooned up to 15+gigs after that stupd ******* ipod program finally converted them all over to WMA... or whatever stupid *** format ipod uses.
The ipod kicks *** on so many levels, but it also completely sucks at certain basic things. The Itunes program is a pain in the *** to figure out, we still cant get more than a few videos loaded on my wifes ipod.

uhh...all i have is MP3's on my iPod/computer. i refuse to convert my songs to the apple format or windows media audio (wma)
if your trying to get your ipod songs onto your computer, you need to:
1) view all hidden folders (folder options in my computer)
2) click on ipod (in my computer)
3) click on the folder that is half faded (cant remember what its call...)/click until you find a bunch of folder labeled Fxx (the xx's stand for a number i.e. 00, 01, 02)
4) copy those to a new folder on your desktop
5) Go to iTunes, Edit, Preferences, "Advanced" Tab, make sure that Keep "iTunes Music Folder Organized", and Copy Music to iTunes Folder When Adding to Library" radio buttons are checked
6) File, Add folder to Library, and choose that New Folder that you copied all those other folders to
7) Delete the New folder on the desktop and you should be good to go
i know its a confusing process but it gets all the songs off the ipod.

Is there a way just to play the songs off my ipod thru my computer speakers without having them on my Itunes?
I dont know whats WMA or MP3 format. All i know is i have about 800 songs on my ipod right now, and they are on my Itunes Library on my old computer, and i cant figure out how to transfer them all to my Itunes library now.
i'll try your process Purestang.

it acctually converts to this gay apple format called aac. acctually one of the reasons i bought a zune instead of an ipod

Only if you set it to convert to AAC. I have an ipod and all I use is MP3. even the stuff I buy is immediately Re-Ripped as MP3

I did everything purestang told me to do. As far as it being automatic or manual, when i plug in the Ipod it automatically updates it.
As for the 3rd question, i have no idea. All i know is I just got this computer, its a HP Pavilion, 500GB hard drive.

did you try the program I posted? Its meant to take all the songs off your ipod. From what I remember if you just plug the ipod into the computer it only shows the songs in Itunes it doesn't actually save them to your hard driver. Put with that program or anyother one you find by using google just search "transferring songs from ipod"
