ok . He has a 2000 z28. Headers, eqhoust without cats , vette tires, chip and claims 400 to the rubber. Says he goes to the track. They only come in a manuel right? I have 330rwhp . Mods r 4.10, longtubes, full exhoust with no cats, turn downs, 100 shotmaximum grip box, bf tires short shifter and its a bullitt. I weigh 3400 with me n it. My odds r slim huh. How much do those things weigh?

my friends z28 ran a 13.39 and beat a mach 1... had no idea what was done to the mach if anything so.... they are fast but who cares... a mach 1 on the sexy scale runs a 9 second 1/4 mile...

Well its a tuff one as I have beaten auto z28's with the same mods you have listed for the z28 when I had less mods then I do now. However you dont have 330rwhp with those stock heads/cams and motor. Your more like 265-275ish rang with your mods. If you had drag radials I would say its a drivers race. With street tires if you can drive you will pull away at first then hes gonna walk you. And what are "vette tire's"?

Technically, you should take him if you can drive. I've seen a GT with 4.10's, T/B, Plenum, headers, exhaust and MT E/T Streets run a 12.7. You have the Maximum Grip Box, and a 100 shot of nitrous, you should be able to run at least a 12.5 if on drag radials, the Z28 will have nothing on you.

Spike Africa I would expect "vette tires" to mean Eagle F1's.

My friend had a 2000 z28 with just a cat-back, and the SLP lid thing, and that thing was f'n fast.

The Z28 is probably going to weight in about 200lbs (without driver) or so heavier than the Mustang. I wouldn't know who will win but I know my friends '02 auto Z28 is pretty dang quick. I'd like to hear the results.

Yeah, I'd say the z28 is a little heavier. I Don't know what your total mods are, but in all honesty if the guy in the camaro knows how to drive and you are on all motor without a power adder you'll be in trouble.

You might win races from stop light to stop light, but if you get out where the camaro gets its legs you are in trouble.

I think so 2. I remmber the first tim I went to the strip. With no knowlage of how **** ran. I raced 2 cameros. An 02 and the model before that. I lost to he 02 . He owned me after third. Always had a lead but the other only got me at the tree. I later passed him by 4 cars. They were both modded and I think I had a real good chance with the other if I had exp. PLUS I never used the bottle

I've crushed a few mullet mobiles since the 5.4L went in. They're stout at the start but I've been owning them bad after the 3rd gear chirp. If I could keep 2nd from spinning so hard I'd have them pwn.T in 2nd gear.

Your average bolt-on camaro is putting ~295rwhp and 315tq down on the ground (mild bolt ons). They weigh 3800lbs and have too stiff a suspension setup for a good launch. My car weighs ~3300 now and makes 280/330 so mullet mobiles aren't much of an issue for me till they get the H/C/I done. If you're putting 330rwhp down then the tq has to be there too. Make sure your launch is solid and you should at minimum be a helluva hard car to beat.

i know a guy with a 00 z28 headers, slp loudmouth catback, cam and tune making 384 hp to the tires...my dad used to have an 02 z28 6spd with slp loudmouth and slp air box lid and factory 3.42 gears he would completely destroy my gt with 4.10's not much of a race I could get him off the line but after 2nd gear its all over...........

keep in mind those f bodys aren't as heavy as they look...they have plastic front fenders, fiberglass doors, all aluminum motor, aluminum drive shaft, and lame 7.5" rear ends wich don't last long in those cars

ain't that the truth. They get badass gains off a cams, intakes, heads, etc.. As soon as they start modding them beyond basic bolt-ons it's really hard to keep up. Fortunately for us a cam on a mullet mobile is a BITCH to install and an intake or head install in the car isn't possible so few of them will ever get much farther than an exhaust kit and a chip or maybe some nitrous.

You guys gotta step up to the 5.4. Surprises the hell out of camaro drivers and 350z drivers.

Ok so camero sounds to be a better car then a stang. Hmmm the reslit of my race is that he got cold feet. He says he got a car. With over 70 grand in mods and will only race for money. He claims 400 rwhp. I call a bluff. 70 grand don't equal 400 hp. I told him my mods and he stated he didn't want to race a drag car. This dude knows nothing but I said that I'd b waiting for him.

If he spent 70 grand and doesn't have over 700 hp he wasted his money

I didn't say a camaro is a better car overall...I just said stock for stock a 93-02 camaro is a littler quicker than a 94-04 gt. and just cause a f body responds to heads and cams better doesn't make it a better car...camaro and mustang are 2 differenet beasts, mustang are overhead cam motors, fbodys are ohv pushrod motors. Different motors respond differently to certain mods.

ditto that. I don't like the looks or the cabin layout of the last gen f-body's and I hate that chevy has stuck like retards to a 50+ year old engine design when they have things like the aurora engine waiting to take them into the 21st century. If they'd innovate instead of renovate they'd have some really stunning products. Instead they have warmed over small blocks with 32 more moving parts than you need to do the job.
