There's more security for the damned torch than there is for visiting heads of state. San Francisco being the ultimate hotbed of morans that can't wait to free Tibet from China's iron grasp but can't find either damned country on a map is sure to be chock full of warm welcomes and well wishes to the torch carrier, China, and the IOC. I'm sure nobody will figure out a way to put the thing out
This is totally going to fugg up my commute.
I work 2 blocks from AT&T Park or PacBell Park or SBC Park or whatever idiotic corporate name they've given the ball park this week and that's where they're starting the run. Hooray for me. Heavy sigh.
Discussion: How retarded does someone have to be to think that running the torch through hippie protester hell was a good idea?

I have no idea how/why they chose SF. There isn't a more controversial place on earth. I have to give credit to Mayor Newsom though....He was on the local sports talk show last week and he pretty much said the Olympics are about the athletes, not politics. His comments somewhat suprised me because I thought SF would be the first City to call for a boycott of the games....But after learning a little bit more about Mayor Newsome's background I believe he played baseball at Santa Clara University so he's an athlete at heart.
I just hope the mom and dad that take their two little kids out to the see the Olympic torch stay safe.

saw the fire stick... for the 20 feet it was visible to crowds before being wooshed away so as not to be put out by the thousand fire extinguisher wielding nut jobs lining the Embarcadero.
Got to protest a little. I protested for cheaper Thai hookers. Best sign I could come up with on short notice.

No kidding. It blows my mind to think about what some of these people could actually accomplish if they put this much effort into something worthwhile. Im not saying Tibet isnt a worthy cause, but dont people in OUR OWN COUNTRY need help too?
