Default OMG I need some IT help

My 15 yr old son downloaded "Frostwire" then he downloaded "Limewire". Geez that's file sharing stuff and it's fcked my computer up bad. Won'tlet me do a system restore, or regedit. I can't even access ctrl/alt/del. I know it uses Java so I wiped out all my java files, but now it's begging me to please install java.. Arrg. I have uninstalled the offending programs. but I can't get rid of the exe. launch file. My task bar is full of < hide buttons.

I told my son not to use filesharing crap but he's 15 and now he's crying cause I banned his *** from this computer. Please any help before I call for backup.. Thanks for any info you can give me..

when you unistalled it, does the program still run as normal. usually programs will automaticlly start so did you try going to your control panel, select change start-up programs and disable the program you want and under catagories select currently running programs and disable the program agin, thats what i do when i take off un-wanted programs on my laptop

Do you have any anti-malware/spyware programs on your computer? Something along the lines of Ad-Aware or SpyBot. If not, try and download one of those, and run the search. It should find something, because what you described is definitely a bug. When it does, GOOGLE the exact name of whatever the bug is called. Then you should be able to find exact instructions on complete removal.

http://www.bullguard.com/forum This is a forum by bullguard where IT guys help you clear out that crap on your computer. You could have **** on there like hidden trojans where even if you delete anything you can find in a few days it will all be back. I would suggest you go to that forum, register, and start a topic. More than likely a guy by the handle of "Touch" will give you advice on what to do. It worked wonders with my last laptop. My computer was to the point I would have to wait 5 minutes for anything to load. I went to that site, got some advice, followed it, and my computer ran better than it did before the huge explosion from Kazaa.

Thanks for the help guys. I finally got it after I calmed down and used some logic. Great minds think alike. LOL.. I did change the start up programs and also found some stuff i didn;t want running all the time. Good move.

I also got adaware and spybot. (I used to have both of them and they are great programs. spybot found the offending registry key change and I was finally able to restore my computer to 1 day before the offending file got downloaded.

Also I'm gonna check out that forum cause god knows I got lucky I didn't get mad enough to reformat my harddrive.. Plus my son wanted to know if it was ok to download limewire again now that my computer is fixed.

Little fawker ( I love him still though). has no idea I racked my lil brain for 5 hours getting rid of that junk.

Thanks again for the help.. I was sweating for awhile there..

.

Exactly. I have walmart, and musicmatch downloads. Both great for downloading songs for less than a buck. But you can't explain logic to a hardheaded 15 yr old sometimes. His "friends use file sharing crap" and he thinks it's ok to download anything from the internet cause his friends do it. But he also knows I will lock him out of this computer at will.. I'd love to see his friends computers, bet they're running all kinds of nasty apps, Plus I bet not one of them has any virus protection..

I was still having problems after I thought i'd cleaned up my computer, (imagine that). I ended having gaaddaaamm ,Virtumonde crap. Pop ups all over the place. My wife got a program to kill it, and it;s not reoccuring after i run spybot. But I still think my chit is infected.. I may install "hijack this" and start some serious asswhoopin. And possibly some needed registry stuff getting the delete.. Oh well. I can always reformat as a last resort..

I had the same problems on my first laptop. Go to those Bullguard forums and start a topic. The guy I told you about, Touch, he is a genious, he got rid of everything, plus some stuff I didn't even relaise I had.

tell him to use utorrent and bit-torrent.com if he wants to be illegal. It's a dangerous place in filesharing. Many shared files out there are nothing but honey pots set up by RIAA to bugger up the p2p thing for everybody so people will stop using it.

easynews.com is a good place to go as well. It's another torrent place. It's like $10 a month for like 20 gigs worth of downloads.

I have no idea. My friend has been using it for a few years now and seems pretty legit. I don't pay though, I just use his log on. haha

easynews is usenet access. usenet has been around for years. its pretty much the only place the mpaa/riaa cant really get to yet. most ISPs offer access to usenet with your internet access but they filter most of the good stuff and limit you speed and download amounts. thats why you need to pay a usenet provider for good access.

download AVG, its a free anti-virus and it continually monitors your pc with daily updates, i've used it for years..screw norton and macfee. Also get threatfire, it doesn't work like a regular anti-spam program with direct definitions. It looks for suspicious activity that normal programs don't or wont do and works with your anti-virus. both are free.

Have Limewire and Frostwire on my PC. Have had them for a very long time and have had no problems whatsoever. I do have my PC locked down rather tightly though.
