That ignorance comes in many forms; young, old, uneducated, and educated.

Recently, I had the misfortune of hanging out with one of the cardiologists I work with here in Jackson, Tn. He's a traveler like myself and will soon be going to Marshall University as an associate professor teaching interventional cardiology. We go to a sports bar to grab a couple of beers and such across from the hospital, and yes, its after hours. Most of the time, he talks about himself, how badass a doc he is, how much Jackson sucks, how his way of practicing medicine is the best, yadda yadda yadda. Huge ego to say the least. After working with him now for the past 6 weeks, I can tell you his ego is writing checks his a$$ can't cash, and honestly, I'm not impressed.

He knows I drive a yellow mustang, so he starts talking about cars, and then proceeds to tell me that I need to buy a Shelby GT cuz its better than what I have, its got to be, it costs like $45k. I try to enlighten him, but he just doesn't stop talking. He asked what I thought about BMW Z3s and Z4s, and I told him I thought that they we're cute chick cars, but wouldn't seriously consider racing one. Of course he gets upset, he owns a Z4 and starts to tell how much better his car is over my mach. It takes all of my self control not to reach over the table and poke him in the eye.

"My Z4 would kill you in the corners"

I asked him what he'd done to it, he had a blank look for a second, then said nothing, he didn't need to do anything to it. OK. I started to get a headache, gave up arguing with him and told him I needed to get home. As we were leaving, he asked if he could hear my car. I fired it up and said to hop in, i'd give him a quick ride. I turned left onto I45 and punched it, roflmao, I thought he was going to pass out. I get him back to the bar and all he said was, yeah, I can't do that with my Z4. If I knew this area better, I would've taken him down some twisties. I'm not saying I would beat him, but I know he wouldn't be able to loose me through the corners. I'm pretty suspect of his driving skills as well just from listening to him blabber about the almighty BMW, don't get me wrong, I like BMWs, especially the M class, but he sounded like a sales brochure. In any event, I don't think it would be a fair race with him behind the wheel.

Unfortunately, he's driving a loaner here and doesn't have his Z4, so its pretty much a he said/she said kind of argument, pointless and a waste of time.

Thats some funny sh*t. It seems a lot of doctors and such think they are badasses. I have to deal with them as well and some are cool as hell and others think they are the greatest things to ever walk earth. Glad you showed whats up and put him in his place a bit.

Wouldn't be surprised if he shows up to work one day in a new Shelby to try and show you up. haha

 

ROFLMAO, I had to scrub a case with the doc today. The entire time, he kept asking me questions about my car, what I had done to it, how much power it had and so on. After the case was done and he finished dictating his report, he asked me if I would help him with getting a mustang and modifing it. He wanted to know if he should get a Shelby GT or a regular GT. I told to look for a '03-'04 Cobra or Mach 1, or look into getting a 05+ Roush or Saleen. I guess that little ride I gave him affected him more than I thought lol.

Yeah, they are BMWs answer to the boxter craze not too long ago along with the Porsche boxter POS. At the time, I saw quite a few docs driving them, now, I mainly see chicks in them. I don't think Porsche even makes their boxter anymore, they were so crappy.

As much BS that comes out of his mouth, I don't think he will seriously consider buying a mustang. He's very much concerned about his image too, and cruising around in a car that doesn't cost $40-50k just isn't in the game plan, thankfully. I hope he stays with his lil Z4, we'd all be safer.

the car before my 2000 stang was a bmw325is and i would never take anything from it....bmw is an awesome car....i used to call it my bulldog....man could it handle...and it was quick as a whip too

 

I hear ya dude, I don't any problems with BMWs either, I think they are nice cars. I do have a problem with the idiots that buy the car as a status symbol and think that since they are paying $40-50k for it, anything less is an unworthy, less capable vehicle. I'm single, no kids, don't have a house, don't pay rent, very few bills and make over $100k a year. I could quite easily afford one, but I chose and much prefer to drive mustangs. As a matter of fact, I've got three. And to call my car a POS to my face because its not "precision engineered", now thats downright insulting. If we were in Texas, I'm pretty sure I could've shot him and gotten away with it.

In the world of muscle cars, there's alot of banter amongst the owners of various types of makes and models. Rivalries between chevy and ford, "ricers" and V8s, etc... but at least there exists a certain amount of respect among the drivers. I'll never own a chevy, but I've got a healthy respect for them. Same with most other cars.

This douche bag bought Z4 because he's a cardiologist and anything less would not be appropriate for his stature. He can't drive worth a damn but believes, because of the cars handling abilities, he's Mario Frick'n Andretti. I actually heard a doc bitch out a nurse over the phone saying," I'm a cardiologist, I drive a BMW, you need to page an Internist, they drive chevy's and fords!!"

 

I hate the damn BMW drivers that wanna blind me in the early mornings coming into the office down the road from there plant, hate those damn halo lights!

yeah alot of people seem to think the more they pay for there car, the more suppier they are. Bunch of misleading idiots! I have a BMW get out of my way on the highway, hell when a cop see's a BMW speeding down the road going as fast as the interstate route number, they basically turn there head the otherway since BMW pumps so much money into the area.

I would slapped the crap out of that intern lady!
