Default help with networking

i want to set up a wireless network for my laptop but im having a hard time figuring some things out.

I have an external hard drive that has all my music on it. i have too much music to put on my internal so thats not an option. my question is: is there any way to hook up an external hard drive to a wireless network without another computer hard wired to the network? i saw the apple airport extreme but i dont think i wanna use that cause of the price. i was thinking of using the Linksys router. seems to be a popular router here at school.

this will help me with my xbox 360 too cause right now i cant use my net with my live account.

i dont think you can connect the hard drive to the router directly since im assuming it is a usb connection?

i googled it and linksys makes basically an adapter so you can do what you want...

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...VisitorWrapper

its $80 at amazon.
