I've done some. R3d has helped me with some, and I've paid for install as well.

It's best to do it yourself because you gain experience and knowledge and if something goes wrong in the future you should know what to do and how to handle it.

But if you're thinking about installing gears yourself..don't. lol

I've done gears myself, it was easier then headers.

It's made to sound MUCH more difficult than it really is, and its hardly worth $500 in labor to do...

did the cam, it wasnt hard at all.....just time consuming and keepers are frustrating..basically do everything except gears

I have done everything to my car, aside from welding in the subframes, and the tuning at the dyno after the supercharger install. I didn't have too much mechanical knowledge previous to my Mustang besides basics, brakes, oil, mosty maintenence stuff. Everything I installed on my car I did with a little research and alot help from ppl on here and a few other forums. I did the 4.10 gears too, even though many tried to scare me away from doing them.

Bottom line is if you have some sort of brain, research the hell out of it, get a good grip on what you are actually doing, own or can borrow the tools you need, understand how the parts work, you can do anything.

I know you know someone that can help you with the installs. That is the best way to learn.

i have done all of my parts myself so far...but i wouldnt do gears. i would do cams if i had the time to be without the stang for a while just so i can dig into the engine and teach myself slowly.

I've done everything on my cars, but the engine machining, welding and EEC tuning (as apposed to carb tuning). I bought a welder but haven't practiced yet, and won't on my baby. I've done gears, but will pay the $150 to have them done next time, too much headache getting them perfect. Even mounted and balanced my own tires, at my buddy's shop.

I've been asked "where'd you learn how to do that?" I really don't have an answer for that, no learning, I just do it.

If it weren't for me doing my own stuff, I wouldn't have half the stuff I do. I'm really too poor and cheap to pay a shop.

Everything but tranny work, rear gears and welding. Like mentioned earlier, you gain experience, knowledge and save a butt load of money.
