Default Do you boycott anything/anyone?

The ultimate protest against a company or country is to deliberately fail to patronize them financially if they do something you don't like. Most people are too lazy to practically boycott anything so it's not very effective in practice. Still ... this is how we get our individual point across however weak it may be. So, tell me... do you boycott any company, country, state, brand, etc..? Why?

WHAT I DON'T WANT IS A FLAME FEST IN HERE. TELL US WHO/WHAT/WHY/HOW-LONG AND LEAVE IT AT THAT. NOBODY'S OPINION ABOUT YOUR BOYCOTT CHOICES ARE WORTH A DAMN SO LET'S ALL KEEP EM TO OURSELVES.

I boycott China, France and Iran outright. I've made sacrifices to do so. Try to find something not made in china. France I just don't like them cheese eatin surrender monkeys. They're always whining and giving up. It seems the only thing they can do well is surrender and make love with their faces. Iran...you figure that out. I consider their current regime to be a threat to world-wide geo political stability.

i should answer this in the same spirit of discussion that you brought to my thread and say, "tell me you arent a total retard and actually think you are boycotting china" its impossible to boycott china... but since i'm a more people friendly guy...i'll say i boycott venezuela myself...i'd boycott iran too if i could figure out what actually comes from there that i use...

I don't really boycott one particular country that produces a lot of goods. I do boycott Abercrombie and Fitch cause I hate their clothes and just the store itself. Having shirtless guys greet you at the door just doesn't do it for me. Also, they sell thongs for like 7 year olds. Come on now. My biggest boycott though is with AAA. They screwed me big time in an insurance claim, wasn't my insurance carrier, but the guy who hit my car. Anyways, they can go to hell and I'm even having my fiance switch from AAA to someone else.

if it says made in china I pass on it if at all possible. if there are no substitues on the market I'll try to make the thing, if that's not practical then I'll buy it used. If i can't do that, then and only then do I buy china made. It's not hard so much as effort driven. But yes... I'm a total retard in trying. Still it makes me feel better.

As for Iran, there are some hard to get spice mixes that are popular there that I like and real persian rugs (I have a thing for those). I've had to resort to mixing my own spices. Doesn't taste the same... probably my infidel status not letting the flavors mix right.

I tell you what though... if you want a great nose job in like 4 minutes flat... go to Iran. They're EXPERTS.

not quite all. There are several large keyboard, mouse and monitor manufacturing plants in California, Mexico and Canada. Just because most stuff is made in china doesn't mean it all is.

I stopped watching MTV when they stopped playing music in the middle of the day. And I agree that they are making younger peeps stupider every day.

Walmarts dirty, theres crap all over the floors and I can't stand the people in there. Sure it's cheap, but not really any cheaper then like Target. Plus they treat their lower employees like crap and pay them horribly. Granted, a good portion of them are probably illegal, but the execs and higher up guys make a crap load of money. Walmart could disappear and I could careless.

Wal-Mart is one company I would never hate. When wal-mart first started as wally mart or whatever it was called, they had just one moto "Instead of selling two items to make high profit, we will lower the price and sell 3 times as many, bringing in more customers and making things more affordable for everyone". Now thats one great business idea you cant go wrong with.

But as Redneck stated, boycotting a company is nearly impossible now a days without a large amount of people. I posted a link on the MHL forums about a company called "mercury electricity" that I would love to boycott to help them lose money. A mother of 4 kids who was living off an oxygen machine and had terrible health conditions died because she was running late on her electricity payment and the electricity company shut off her power. You know what it is for the Electricity company to know that one of THEIR customers is DEPENDING on their life by THEIR electricity, and they shut off her power over just a $122 payment that hasn't been made. The electricity company was completely aware of the oxygen machine too. So over $122 a mother of 4 kids died.
Hey spin haven't seen you round these parts much lately.

GAP Stores Inc...

I stay FAAARRR away from any of those stores, not because I dont like their clothing (i actually kinda like it but thats beside the point), but because I don't like their stand on child labor.

Otherwise..um....I don't really boycott too much.

I now boycott California Pizza Kitchen. They got rid of my favorite pizza for some dumb excuss of it not being time efficient enough for them. Does it really take that long to slap some mushrooms onto a pizza? Come on, they can now go to hell.

This one isnt that hard for me to boycot. But I dont like BET (Black Entertainment Television). I feel like its a double standard in racial issues. I dont consider myself a racists, but I truly feel like if I started a WPN (White Peoples Network) and put it on air I would get shut down....citing racism. But BET isnt "RACIST"...... ..I call BS...... It would be racist if the roles were reversed!

Very true. I just wish any of the music channels actually played music. And not the same top 10 R&B videos they show over and over and over again. Thats why I have music choice with my digital cable. You can watch whatever videos you want, when you feel like watching them
