Mustang Prices.
I have a few questions. First how much would it cost to buy a decent Mustang II as opposed to like an 89-93 5.0? Second, would I be able to swap the stock engine for a 5.0? Lastly, are there convertable Mustang II's? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you refering to the '74-78 Mustang II? If so, I bought a '78 MII in '96 for $500.00. Came with a 2.3L I4 and is an automatic. Right now I'm working out the details of swapping in a 5.0 and having its C5 tranny rebuilt. After that, gonna build the rear and tub it out, roll cage, beef up the suspension and upgrade the brakes. Should be a fun car at the track when I'm done.

A Mustang II is going to be cheaper than a clean fox body, IMO, because they are the bastard-children of the Mustang family. You have to be a special person to love a II, and I hope this doesnt offend you, its not meant to, but there are few people that like them. Personally, I hate them, but others feel there is no other Mustang for them.
Its very possible to do anything, just how much money is involved is what makes the difference. however, I thought the II's had the option of a 5.0 engine. If thats the case, there should be no problem.

orgional to origional - yes this is true
odds are the II will be in alot worse condition then the fox due to age, wear and tear, and neglect (like you said - stepchildren).
then by the time you get the 5.0 and running gear, and get the II into the same condition of the fox... the fox would have been cheaper.
Hell if you figuire Stock 5.0, Stock T5 thats almost $600-$800 alone off the bat (used) ontop of the II. I see foxes go for 2-3k modded.

At the time I bought mine, I didn't have a car and really needed one. My cousin offered it up for 500.00 and I took it. After driving it for a couple of years, I parked it in a garage and its been there ever since. The body is in great condition, very little rust and the interior is in awesome shape. Its a simple matter for me to drop a 5.0 in it now since its free and clear and the only costs will be parts and labor.
I certainly believe its one of the ugliest mustangs produced. But I'd like it to be one of the meanest, ugly cars in town. Its a great platform to build into a race car. Tub out the back, put some M/T Street ETs on it, drop it for a better stance, upgrade the brakes, man, I can't wait.
