Default Chevron

Thought this was a little odd. Drove past a Chevron the other day and saw that 91 was $4.00 and the Shell and 76 right next to it were only $3.65 for 91. I've never seen an almost $.40 difference between gas stations that were right next to each other.

that is a little weird, but the $4.00 gallon of gas is not far off. The oil companies will get us used to $3.40-3.60 a gallon for a few months and then it will go up a little....we'll get used to it again and then it will be $4.00 while Chevron will post another record year or profit. Before long it's going to be cheaper for me to put 95 octane VP race fuel in my car.

I might have to get an 87 octane performace tune on my Xcal 2. Gas sucks. $4.00 a gallon is going to be ridiculous.

the chevron in my area regularly sells gas for 30 or 40 more cents a gallon than the arco across the street. it's cause chevron thinks their gas is better or something.

No one should complain about how high gas is in the first place, no matter where you live. Either pay what the stations are selling it for or don't drive. Complaining about it isn't gonna make it any cheaper so if you want to drive your car, you'll pay it.

About the topic of different prices between stations, I saw about $0.15 cent difference between 2 BP stations maybe a mile apart the other day. Sometimes the differences have to do with when the station got their last tanker full of gas. If crude oil goes up, the price we see will go up. If they had to pay more for the crude, we are gonna pay more for the gas.

who knows.....maybe $3.80-$4.00 depending on where you live. After bitching about gas prices last month on this board i decided to say F it and put 3.5-4.0 gallons of 100 octane in my car and that runs me about $6.50 a gallon....They also have 95 octane around $4.50 a gallon.

Anyway, my car runs SOOOOO much better when I mix it with 100 octane, but it's damn expensive..

Also, I think Tangerine has some serious stock in oil cause everytime we bitch about gas he tells us to STFU and pay or don't drive. ha ha ha ha.

Hey, dunno about you but a lot of us live in america, where it is our right and our civil responsibility to disagree and challange things that dont seem right.

Couldn't have said it better myself.....it makes it hard for people like us to just STFU and pay it when Chevron it making record profits. If they were tanking and just about to go under and needed to raise the prices, that's a different story, but there are a lot of people getting rich off people who don't question things.

Codiddy---we also have to remember the state has a gas tax of 9 cents per gallon, and I'm not sure if the Feds charge us a gas tax or not..... so the real cost of gas might be $3.00 a gallon, but by time you take a 10 cent tax here and a 3 cent tax there it makes it more expensive. I just never understood how we can have oil refineries right in our backyard and still pay an arm and leg

Yeah I was bitching about the prices being high Tangerine. I was just stating that it was odd seeing a $.40 price difference from 1 station to the next. I've seen like $.05 or before, but $.40 is freakin ridiculous. yeah we bitch about gas prices, but we have reasons for bitching. When the prices per barrel were going down, the price per gallon was still going up. Thats f#cked up. Just so the oil companies can make a few extra billion.

Well I'm just saying, bitching on a Mustang forum where it is mostly about headswapping, camming, supercharging, hooking up nitrous etc (all things that are gonna make your car a guzzler) is not the place for it. If you want to go complain to your congressman then fine, but bitching here isn't gonna make the prices lower. The only way the prices are gonna come down is if we quit buying the stuff. Things seem to be heading in the "going green" direction so I don't think the government is going to actually do a whole lot for us who want guzzle the gas and enlarge the ozone with our offroad pipes. I mean, for the gas companies, it is about supply and demand. When demand goes up, price goes up-basic economics. How is it any different than any other product on the market?

I've never complained about putting 91 in my car because I realized your only spending a few bucks more. The whole reason I started this thread because I thought it was odd that one gas station would be $.40 more than the next. To me thats a huge difference and I've never seen it like that before. $.10 fine, but $.40, come on. Whats next a $1.00 difference between each grade.

Could be worse, you could have a diesel big rig that gets 5.4 mpg. $3.10 a gallon today in Knoxville and it took 165 gallons. $511.50 just to run 891 miles. I will do that tomorrow and a few hours on Thursday so.....every two days $500+.

Oh wait....I don't have to pay for fuel in the truck.
