Smile V6 with a V8

Well first off its been a long time since ive sold my beloved v6 and moved on to a vette and now am considering the move back to mustangs. I have thought out a master plan that consists of a v6 body and a v8 drivetrain and have a total of 15,000 dollars to spend. And I would like to make it a sleeper so the exhaust must be free flowing yet baffled. Also what type of engine to consider a gt engine, bullitt engine, mach 1 engine or a cobra engine. I dont want too much performance but i want things done right the first time around. Im looking for around 250-350 hp range it will be my DD Sleeper. Also Irs or solid axle?

If you want something pretty healthy but not insane a Mach 1 motor will sufice maybe even a 3 valve GT motor. And solid axle. Better start looking for a wrecked GT to pull parts

But dude for 15K and your car on top to trade you could just buy a used Mach 1 or hell get a GT and have a little left to mod the **** out of it.

**** it would be cheaper to buy a GT and put V6 badges on it but then you'd look like a retard.

I just dont see the point of spending 15k on a shottty job that can be put towards something already completed and actually works.

Wow that would actually make sense, or buy a somewhat fresh 04 Cobra for 25k and mod the hell out of it with the other 5k and blow the doors off a ZO6

Your gonna spend 10k just for the Cobra motor.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the engines you mentioned, but it just depend what you have planned for the car.

you'd get the 03/04 cobra engine that included the S/C right? Besides being forged I'm not sure it would put out as much hp as the mach engine because the compression is so low....I mean you could fix that, but I think it the termi engine only has a compression ratio of 8:5 or something compared to the mach's 10:1

Thanks i was having trouble finding and 03 or an 04 cobra engine anyways the only reason i am doing this is to get what i really want a fast street car that looks slow next thing is that i will need to find a gt that has decent miles on it and i want to make sure that everything will bolt up nicley. So will the transmission in the gt bolt up with the mach engine or not and will i need a new rear end?

Everything should bolt up just fine....both have the TR 3650 tranny. The rear end is the same minus the 3:55 gears in the mach....a stronger rear would be great, but not a must.

what about putting the engine in im sure the harness is different from the gt but what else is necessary im kindof overwhelmed but i think i can pull through and get it all sorted because i need a car to do the work but i need the to find out how much parts will be before i buy a car. do i need a different speedometer? A mach 1 radiator, air conditioning, are the coolant reservoir in different places?

Heres a good idea of ALL the work granted it was done for a 97 V6 but the same principles still apply for this type of swap. Speedo needs to be changed to, if you do the 03 Cobra swap the fuel system is completly different and so on and so forth. Doesnt look like fun. Your whole car is gonna be gutted from front to back.

I think that is only because he first of all had a v6 so he needed v8 brakes and such but also because he had a 94 or 95 and was converting to a v8 from a 2000 but think i would be fine with all the wires and such.

No, going from 2V gt to 4V Mach 1/Cobra requires different wiring. Check out the thread on a 5.4 2V swap, there is someone selling an almost complete setup for $800, with all the hard stuff, all that's left would be easy to find. A lot of info there, so take your time and try to absorb it. He has aftermarket cams for sale, so it should give you the same HP as a Mach engine with more torque, and it will still look like a 4.6 in the engine compartment to the untrained eye.
