Unhappy new engine

alright well my engine has blown ... i think it was the miles but anyways the body and everything is in good condition so ford quoted me 4000+ for a new 3.8 and install ... i really would like to put a 4.6 in it but i dont know what all i would need ... im assuming new tranny, exhaust (right now i have true duals but no crossover), rearend, etc. but where could i get a new 4.6 engine from a reliable place? and would it be worth it?

yeah thats the thing is power ... and i was thinkin about that insurance thing too that would be cool ... but i just got back from the dealership and they were making it sound impossible to do the swap, they said it would be easier and cheaper to find a gt in a junk yard and buy that whole car to make the swap

Buy a used v6 engine, drop it in there put a for sale sign then buy a v8 or have a custom built V6 and drop a power adder. Engine swaps are complicated and expensive if you are not the one doing it or if you dont have all the parts.

+1 Only way to get a perfect swap is get a clip of a car that was damaged and swap EVERYTHING from that shell into your V6. It's not worth it were doing it just got done doing it to the family car.

I think the insurance only pays attention to the vin#. They never have to know what is under the hood.

I seccond that. If you ever did wreck, or crash (knock on wood), they would only cover the cost of the original part (Because thats what they would think was under the hood, they wouldnt check to make sure it was the stock motor)

fix it in your drive way with a junk yard v6, sell it, and buy a fox mustang. cheap and fast. 18 year old male with one speeding ticket and im paying right at $100 a month, clean record will put you under 100 a month...

ive killed plenty of 2 valves with it as well...

we swapped teal beast's motor for 450bucks shipped from a junkyard. That was full motor and shipping to orlando then tossed it in ourselves.

Actually, if they find out it was altered, you are screwed.

Or get a long rod 4.6L V6 from SSM...

Don't sell your 99+ for a fox body...If you do you'll regret it, I don't care how fast it can be made for cheap, it's almost a 20 year old car that almost always has issues once you start modding them. Hell they have issues with them stock. If anything get another 99+.
