+1 that actually works cause it does put ur muscles thru stress...but there is nothing like the good old fashion barbells....
and to give you an idea...i had wrestled for 2 years....for those 2 years i weighed 160 (im 5'8")..this was 3-4 years ago...after i stoped...and started to swim a lil...i weigh 205-210..still at 5'8"...so im gonna start to rigerously train myself again....and sweating does do alot...i would weigh in 1-3lbs heavier in the begining of practice than the end of wrestling practice

See I wrestled..but my weight coudln't pass 140..if it did i was in a danger zone basically.. but yea.. a 90 degree wrestling room and being in sweats and a sweatshirt will cut your weight alot, and very quickly. It just isn't exactly the best thing for your body.

I never REALLY had a weight problem but I was dating a girl that was a club freak so we would go out and drink 4 nights a week and hit up Whataburger at 3am or Ramon Noodles at 4 lol. Anyway it started catching up to me and I started getting a gut and a chubby face and people started pointing it out so..we broke up eventually and I decided to change things.
I cut out sodas completely and cut out fried food. I started running everyday when I got home and just got a dumbell to do simple stuff with and plenty of sit ups and push ups. I never starved myself and lost 30 lbs. in 4 months. I actually had to gain weight back because people said I was too skinny. I could never do sit ups for **** and eventually was doing 400 a night.
Anyway man you just have to get it set in your head if you want to do it. Get rid of all the crap food you have. Hell it got to the point that when I would break down and have McDonalds it would almost make me sick and kill my stomach. Holidays are coming up so it will be really tough to do right now but hell I dunno...think of it this way...a hot girl is gonna rub on some ab and not some flab..
Good luck

Dude SAME FEELING... I became so into my diet that I have not touched fast food in a LONG LONG time, i just get so disgusted by it. There was this one day like 3 months back that I ate mcdonalds because i was at the office and my co worker had bought me some without me knowing, i was like "f it" and it ate it, not even a few minutes later i was in the bathroom throwing it up.

Hey man, i dunno how strong you are or anything but get in the gym, go weight lift, don't just do it because everyone tells you to, you need to want to, believe me, after you see some results and the weight you use goes up you'll want to go every day! As for the eating at night try to drink a few glasses of water before you go to bed, it will help you feel less hungry (at the risk of possibly pissing on yourself haha) but it is worth a shot...
If anybody gives you any **** about how much you lift tell them "everyone has to start somewhere right?" and make them feel like an idiot... Asking for help is the best place to start man, learn from everyone and always keep learning, you're headed in the right direction.

Me to.....I just ate one of those extra large cookies with M&M's in it! Very good.
Get a gym membership and buy a few sessions with one of those extremely cool trainers who think they own the gym and are cooler than everyone. They will show you around the gym and give you a work out schedule to go along with it. Do that for a while and cut out the late night eating and junk food and you'll be fine.....but don't expect it to happen over night, give it some time.

Just dont eat anything after 7. thats what i do. Unless its like a granola bar or water. I too am over weight,6' 1 and 275. And now prob extremely overweight to some people lol. But hey i dont care. I work out (weight lifting, agility, some endurance) 3 days and week and play football for the HS. So I think i stay in mildly good shape for being my size.

I quit eating fast food about 4 years ago, and I actually had people ask me what i was doing to lose so much weight. I wasn't trying to lose weight but, I was inadvertantley looking thinner in the face and midsection. I'm 5' 9" and used to weigh 195, when I was in my mid 30's. I now weigh about 175 lbs. probably still not great but I don't eat after 11PM. I usually cook food on the weekends. (Chicken, steak, etc,) and takd leftovers to work for lunch, McDonalds will make you gain weight in a hurry. So I quit eating there unless I am running late and need a quick stomach sponge, I evev gave up Taco Bell. Man I love a beef burrito like nobodies business.
Anyway, What I'm saying is I cook leaner meats, And go from there.. Fast food is fats food. And Large fries aren't veggies either.
My favorite thing for lunch is, Lean Roast beef and carrots. maybe not cholesterol free, but way better than a quarter pounder w/cheese..

Im late as hell, but i agree with Ghoststalker. You need motivation. Hang around people that are physically active. If you dont have friends that workout or jog, then you need to make some. I guarantee that once you start seeing some kind of results(which will take some time)you will become more dedicated.
And like everyone else said.... you got to get rid of the junk food. Get some fruit and go find Jared.

I didn't really read a lot of the posts before me, but I skimmed a few and a lot of people had good suggestions.
Don't diet.. make lifestyle changes. No fast food, no soft drinks. Just by doing these 2 things you'll cut out so many calories. And as far as your cravings go.. it's all about controlling your metabolism. Metabolism controls why some people can eat a lot and gain nothing and why others eat little and gain more. What you eat and when you eat are two things that can effect this.
Your body takes in carbs/sugars so quickly into the bloodstream it can cause your body to start releasing waves of insulin to make up for it... which over a period of time will lead to insulin resistance. The pancreas has to produce more and more insulin to metablize all the carbohydrates and the pancreas overshoots and makes to much insulin in a lot of casues.. which causes your body to think that its hungry, when in fact you just ate.
So should you join the Atkins diet trend and not eat any carbs at all? god no.. in my opinion that's a terrible diet. Carbs can be good, they provide us with energy. Look up some of the side effects from eating a 0 carb diet, it can mess with your mind big time.
It's all about when you eat carbs.. you want to eat them in the morning. Carbs are a huge no no at night because our bodies handle them so poorly. The best thing to do is to ditch refinded carbs and stratches.. my two best examples would be white bread and pasta. If you eat a lot of white bread (it's practically everywhere), just by ditching it you'll lose pounds. I love the advertising on a lot of potatoe chip bags.. how they say you can't eat just one. It's exactly true because of how it effects your metabolism.
Practice portion control. It's not at all about starving yourself, that's even worse on your body. Generally you want to eat every 3-4 hours in smaller portions maybe 4 or 5 meals a day. And like said before.. you don't want to eat too late in the evening and you definately don't want to eat carbs then. Carbs in the morning, healthy fats later in the day, and protein throughout the whole day is a good way to eat. Just eating protein elevates your metabolism. Your body has to work harder to metabolize protein than it does fat or carbohydrate, and of course protein is great for your muscles...
Besides eating healthy, you have to live a healthy lifestyle. Simply.. be active. Join a gym for sure. Don't go and just run though. WEIGHT LIFTING IS AWESOME! Building muscle will help you burn fat. People with more muscle mass will burn calories faster than someone with less muscle mass when they just sit around watching TV. Muscle is more metabolically active than any other body tissue. A lot of people think losing weight is all about cardio exercise.. and it's not at all. Weight lifting should be a huge part of your work out. Generally speaking, I've seen a lot of trainers say more then 30 minutes of cardio is a waste of time in one session. I personally love doing resistance running. Which what that is.. I use an elliptical machine and start running for 2 minutes at a resistance of 6.. after the two minutes i go to 8 and I run at a faster rate for 5 minutes. Then I go back to the 2 at 6 resistance. I do this for a total of 30 minutes. This was something I had to build at.. I think I started it at like 1 and 3 and moved my way up over time. Also, I've seen it highly recommend to only weight lift every other day. The reason why is because when you lift and stress your muscles they get micro tears, and then they rebuild and are stronger, the days off allows your body to rest these muscles so they can repair. On those days off it would be a good time to do cardio
I hope I provided some help in these huge long post. Like I said in the first sentence.. it's about lifestyle changes. If you're like most Americans, I can assume that cutting fast food out completely seems about impossible, but trust me, it's not. You'll be able to eat much healthier, lower in calories and fat foods. Look up calories for some of your favorite fast food meals.. you'll be shocked. Not ALL fast food is bad, there are some things that are on the menus that are OK. But the majority of it is bad lol.
Just remember to be realistic.. you didn't put all the weight on overnight and it's surely not going to come off that fast. Losing 2 pounds a week is pretty realistic. You may lose more at first.
Also.. endorphin highs are awesome! lol, that might sound bad.. but it's true. Whenever I run for 20-30 minutes I always experience an endorphin high afterwards. If I have a stressful day at work, I always go running, and I always feel better afterwards. Working out is not all about pain either lol.
A note I would like to add for any other women on the boards reading this.. don't be afraid of weight lifting, most women are scared that they'll get big and gross like those scary women in the competitions on TV, lol. You won't, those women use supplements and junk to make themselves look like that.. weight lifting will make you toned.

I didnt read everyones posts besides skimming csledd's post which seems to have good info in it. However, dont come to car forums looking for advice, you need to seek professional help. Many people that talk about this stuff dont really know what they are talking about.
Im going to copy and paste some posts Ive made in the past.
Decreasing carbs to anything less then 130 g per day is terrible. Carbs are the primary source of energy for your body. If you get less then that then you are depriving your brain of glycogen. Take a guess what happens then. The Atkins diet is a TERRIBLE diet. He also died from a heart attack, think it had something to do with his diet? Meat has a lot of saturated fat which is bad, so I wouldnt recommend eating that much meat. However, dont cut it out of your diet. If you drink milk, then make sure its skim milk. Every 8 oz glass of 2% has 9g of fat in it.
A healthy diet should last you a life time with no bad effects. A normal diet should be 55% CHO (carbs), 30% Fat, 15% Protein. A low fat diet should be 65% CHO, 20% Fat, 15% Protein OR 60% CHO, 20% Fat, 20% Protein. Notice the % of carbs went up.
MastaBlasta had good advice with eating several small meals during the day. 7 to be exact. And your last meal shouldnt be after 7:00pm. He also mentioned eating monounsaturated fats which is good along with polyunsaturated fats. Those are what the majority of the fat you take in should be.
You shouldnt be losing more then 5lbs per week. A drastic cut or gain in weight is unhealthy. The best way to lose fat is by doing low intensity work out for at least 45 min. per day. This has to be in at least 15 min increments. So walking at low- moderate intensity on a treadmil with an incline is great. You burn more CHO's during high intensity work out.
When your stomach is empty its 1/4 cup and when its full it can get up to 4 cups. It takes your brain 20 min to realize you're full. So if you eat slower then you wont be able to eat as much.
Just as a side note, a "Nutritionist" can be ANYONE.
If you want some real good advice then get in contact with a Registered Dietician. Have you had a skin fold test, or under water weighing (best way)? Anything to give your body composition? BMI really isnt a good indication of it.
One important thing I forgot to mention is, you cant burn fat without carbs.
3500 kcals= 1 pound of fat. So in order to lose 4lbs a week (of fat) you are burning 14,000 calories per week which is 2,000 per day (which isnt happening). 4lbs in two weeks would be more reasonable, unless youve lost a lot of water weight.
A good goal to have is lose 1-2lbs of FAT per week. Keep in mind there are 3500kcals in 1lbs of fat. So if your goal is to lose 1lbs of fat per week, then you need to remove a total of 3500kcals per week, or burn that many per week. The best thing to do is both, remove some from your diet, and burn the rest through cardio and exercise. So if you do the math, thats 500kcals per day. Divide that in half and you've got 250kcals. So remove 250kcals from your diet pre day(1 can of coke has about 150kcals in it), and burn another 250kcals through exercise and cardio. It seems really easy to lose fat then you put it down on paper like this. You've just got to stick to it. Doing it this way will also make it permanent. As apposed to losing a lot of weight per week or taking pills, that usually results in a loss of water weight. Basically thats what fat loss supplements do, remove water. You get on the scale, see your weight has gone down, and you think its working when it really isnt.

My parents got into the atkins thing years ago. Between the two of them they have lost a combined 150lbs and have managed to keep it off.
Then again, my mother is an incredible cook and has hundreds of great recipes that keep the carbs real low.
like any diet, that kind of stuff really is almost a lifestyle change. if you can stick with it, it works pretty good.

Get off your *** and get into bodybuilding. I have been doing so for 25 years, and I can eat 6000 calories a day and not get fat. Currently I am at 255 lbs. and wear size 36 pants, and sometimes they're loose. If you are a true bodybuilder you can't eat enough.

That isnt much help to him.
After the facts are presented, I still cant believe people would even consider going on the Atkins or supporting it. Its a TERRIBLE diet and its bad for you. I dont care how much weight you lose with it.
