PS2 or Xbox 360?
When either of these systems first came out did any of you buy it the day it came out and flip it on Ebay for a profit?
If possible I'm thinking of getting a PS3 the day it comes out and then try to flip on ebay....I'm pretty sure they will sell out that week and it will create a high demand just in time for xmas and people will be willing to pay...maybe. Any thoughts?

highway robbery in my view, and a pretty crappy thing to do.
this has nothing to do with supply and demand, this has nothing to do with free market or any of that other crap.
It has to do with intentionally purchasing something that is in limited quanity that you do not want, simply so you can jack up the price and make a quick buck.
i got in a debate about this with a guy who did it with an Xbox 360.
Honestly, i think it is a crappy and scummy thing to do.
Mr johnson wants to buy one for little jimmy, but he has to work, and cannot camp out. Everybody rushes out, buys several and scalps them on ebay for a thousand over origional price.
Now little jimmy cannot have one for xmas cause a bunch of ********* camped out and bought em all and now daddy cant afford to get him one.
Personally, i say if you get one, just get one for yourself. Scalping it will definatly get you some money, but it is a shady move in my view, taking advantage of people who couldnt camp out, just to make a quick buck.
but whatever, do whatcha want.

I don't think it's crummy at all. The people that buy the PS3 from the guy that camped out are paying for the time you spent camping out. Now personally I wouldn't spend an extra 400 bucks on a gaming system just so that I don't have to camp out, but it's their choice. It's not bad to do that because it's not something like gas or electricity that people HAVE to have in order to function, it's a friggin' game system that you can wait 4 months until they have enough in stock for you to buy.
You can always buy one online anyhow and they'll ship it to you as soon as they get them back in stock. If you buy one the first day they come out online you may only have to wait a few weeks to get one. I just don't see why people would spend all that extra money instead of just waiting. It's actually dumb on their part. The people making the profit are smart and not cheating anyone.

And IF it was so bad, the people that are buying the 'scalped' product wouldn't be buying it at all.. Hell, there were a few 360's that went for $8-$10k on eBay...
It's called....Business.... You have the Supply and they have the demand!
Jack, I think you had a bad experience as a child...

One fatal flaw in your view.. You camp, you get ONE voucher. So, buying several at a time is out of the question.
And IF it was so bad, the people that are buying the 'scalped' product wouldn't be buying it at all.. Hell, there were a few 360's that went for $8-$10k on eBay...

Not the jackass who wanted to make a quick buck.
I diddnt know anything about the "voucher", so i guess charging for your time camped out, why not.
The Xbox was different i guess, they diddnt have vouchers, you just has a bunch of ********* buying 4-5 of them so they could scalp them on ebay.
Either way, i think it is a dick move.
those PS3's are already way overpriced.
Got an xbox 360 about a week ago.... that thing kicks ***, but still, 400 is a bit much to pay.

No, there were vouchers for the 360's.
Each store took inventory of what they had and handed ONE voucher to each person in line.
NOW, for the smart businessman, they had several friends come with them and stand in line so yes in that way they would get several of them. Keep in mind the vouchers were for the FIRST day that the console came out. If you happened to come in when the store recieved a shipment after that then you could buy as many as you wanted to.
How do I know this? I had to sit the **** outside with the stupid ****s that camped out all night to get a ****ing game console.. Keep in mind it was like 10 degrees that night when they came out.. (I worked @ CCity)

there were lots of stores stating a 2 console purchase limit as well.
and no i cant think of them off the top of my head, it was a while ago, but trust me, some places might have had vouchers, not all of them did that

Hmm, I don't know about where you live but here it was one per person at every store. We had to call every store to make sure, because we knew people would try to get more than one.
You might be thinking wal*mart, I know they were the only place in our area that ****ed up and sold more than one to a customer.
People should just be more like me and win a Premium w/ two games... lol

EDIT: not all walmarts, there was one near my house that did that, bunch of people got fired i guess
the bigger the coroperation the more they will adhere to the rules. I think one per customer really is the most fair way to do it, but there were LOTS of people boasting about getting multiple xboxs and scalping them.
if they can manage a 1-1 sale ration and you only buy one and want to sell it, yeah i do think you chould be compensated for your time in line. definatly.

One way someone can get multiple consoles is for them to get their friends involved. They buy one themselves and then has like 2 or 3 of their friends buy one also. Therefore, the guy ends up with 3 or 4 consoles. This is how someone ends up with multiple units.
Now I'm not saying there isn't places that sold only one console. Some places probably sold more than one depending what associates handed them out. Wal-Mart, for example, hands out one per customer, and that doesn't mean there was some voucher. Yeah, there were vouchers distributed to all the stores but hell, some stores only got a few units. The store I was working at the time, we only received 8 consoles. Basically, the first 8 people to wait in line til midnight received one console. First come, first serve.
Not all places handle it the way it's suppose to. I agree that one console per customer but you can't do anything about some guy who's got 3 of his friends buying them also, unless you can prove it or overhear them talking about it.

Friend of mine camped out at I believe best buy here in Ohio and got 2 Xbox 360's. I don't know about the voucher's you're talking about, but he got two. He was going to sell both on ebay, but just sold one for double what he paid for. After said and done, he basically got one for free.
As for me, I just maked trades, haha! I just tradeed my oold laptop for the Xbox 360 premium, 3 xbox games, 2 xbox 360 games, a wireless controller, AND $200. I made out well I think, considering my laptop brand new was less than $700!

For someone who knows a lot about sound systems im quite fond of your ignorant response to sound and computers, and your knowleadge of a xbox360 vs the PC.
If you didn't know a xbox360 is just a tiny computer. It has a motherboard, a hard drive, a sound card, a video card. its all there, I have my PC connected to my sony reciever and my whole sound system, I just got a sound card that can connect it all. This topic if just as bad as a Chevy Vs Ford or a Turbo Vs Nitrous arguement, Everyone has their own thoughts and their own opinions to which is best. I own both and still love my PC, Yes a PC is more expensive but the speed of my PC is deff worth the money put into it. Now a days I have seen some crazy **** been done to those 360s, my buddys always downloading games and playing them on his 360. I connected my plasma with only an extension cable which cost me $12 at radioshack. Your plasma should have a VGA connection under it too which you can connect it to your PC.
Anything you can do on your xbox i can do with my PC and faster too. I can play games and have a quick *** videocard to run it superfast, i can play on a server that handles more people then your xbox, and ofcourse theres the usual that you know about, download music, videos, games, ****, pay my bills online, check the weather, and just unlimited possibilitys.
This topic was debated on a "Maximum PC" issue, and PC did win just about every round other then the "Best bang for the dollar" one.
You should go ahead and tell music producers to record their work on xbox's instead of computers, since computers cant handle sound systems.

Total cost in my PC build was a little over $3,000 but thats because I exagerated on some things such as you do with some of your sound stuff.
BTW my PC boots up in 16 seconds, I never turn it off, I can sadly say that I have got laid because of it (the times i have found chicks on the myspace). I play badass PC games, and some games that are way too powerful for the little xbox360. Such as Battlefield 2 and the series, I can pay all my bills with it, get DVDs, get music, etc etc.
There are endless possibilities to what you can do with a computer, I have never gotten a virus either and its never tooken a **** on me. I have seen computers that have been setup to control the temperatures of houses.

im pretty sure that jack was talking about the average computer that most people own, like myself. thats the only way a 360 would be better than a PC. i dont even play video games so i wouldnt know which is better.
edit: its 1 am on a saturday shouldnt u be out with the long sleeve bangin chicks. its 230 pm here where im at still in recovery from last night officer hooch was crazy till i got kicked out by my commander enlisted cant mingle with officers

PC gaming just isnt for me. then again, i hate computers. I sit in front of a dual monitor computer for 8 hours a day, i have NO desire to be around a "computer" when i get home. I like video games, but im not what you would call an avid gamer. LOL. Probably why it took me over a year to finally plop down some cash on an xbox.
Oh as far as music on PC vs music on Xbox, PC is probably a bit more flexable, but either way neither an Xbox or a PC are decent sources for music. I was really meaning about the capabilitys of the gaming audio on the Xbox.
Personally, i think MP3 sounds like ***. Sure, you can up the sampling, but yer SAMPLING a DIGITAL REPRESENTATION of an ANALOG source. LOL!!!!!
CD aint too bad once you get some cash dumped in and put together a good music rig, MP3 in my view is useful for background music while yer cleaning yer house or something. But it absolutly sucks if you plan on sitting back with some good tequilla on the rocks and jam out some good recordings of BB king and zone in on the music. I got a good Denon universal player i use for music(CD/SACD/DVD-A/DVD etc) that ran me about 3x what i paid for the 360. <grin>

I have a remote control and a play list setup for when i wake up, grab the control, point it to my PC and press play and start listening to my music. Same as your music player. I have my PC connected my sony reciever which is connected to 5 bose speakers and a bose subwoofer offering 5.1 surround sound. Nothing as crazy as your **** but its still good **** for me.
