Exactly dude, but you CAN connect your receiver and such devices to your computer, Which deff beats your theory of "You cant get the sound quality of an xbox 360 and my kick *** sound system"
I have a remote control and a play list setup for when i wake up, grab the control, point it to my PC and press play and start listening to my music. Same as your music player. I have my PC connected my sony reciever which is connected to 5 bose speakers and a bose subwoofer offering 5.1 surround sound. Nothing as crazy as your **** but its still good **** for me.

ok i re-read what i said, yeah, i see how you could take the meaning of that, what i meant was my audio rig is better than any PC based sound system (all within, controlled, and powered by PC cards and components, which is what i am used to seeing people do)
Hook a PC with a bitchin audio card via Coax or Fiber to the stereo and yeah it will be on par with xbox.
yeah, i know a PC is a hell of a lot more versatile, and can certainly exceed a 360 in graphics and sound.... but not for 400 bucks. lol....
There is a guy i work with, man, his **** is crazy.. he has multiple PC's rigged in with his audio system, the pic is of his basement. he has his stuff all rigged and set up with what i think is a wireless tablet pc he can basically punch in any song in the planet, his system will get online, find it, rip it, store it in one of the various Mp3 banks that he has, and he can play it in any room of his house.
so... yeah.. PC CAN definatly do cool stuff for music.
Check the pic. This is his basement.
Personally, i think the system is overkill, ill bet it would be a bitch to diagnose a ground-loop-hum in this rig.

Oh yeah, those tower speakers i believe are Defintive Technology BP3000's
each tower has 2 tweeters and 4 woofers, half facing the front and half facing the rear
Each one also contains a 1000w (yes, 1,000, not 100) watt 15inch side firing subwoofer, with a frequency responce that drops to 15hz +/- 3db.
freakin monsters.

Yah but car audio and home audio are 2 totally different beasts
In a home setup, most people run with 100-250w subwoofers. I have 2 velodynes subs that are 200rms and 600peak. I can knock **** off my walls with that pair of subs. I get dead spots, but when yer sittin on the couch and something blows up, man you feel it.
Car audio just dosent seem to have the same impact per watt, i think it is the lower current they are running, but a couple 1000W' 12's isnt that unheared of in car audio.
Not many people boast that type of power with a higher current amplification.
Lets just say, these towers produce the same kidneymassaging effect for and entire basment with what a couple quality 1000w amps with a pair of 12s in the cab of a car will achieve.
you put the 1000w car amps and 12's in the basement, the effect will not be nearly thre same....
car audio is deisgned for near-field listening though... its all different...

the better guitar amps are lower wattage... so i guess that just shows to go ya

this has nothing to do with supply and demand, this has nothing to do with free market or any of that other crap.
It has to do with intentionally purchasing something that is in limited quanity that you do not want, simply so you can jack up the price and make a quick buck.
i got in a debate about this with a guy who did it with an Xbox 360.
Honestly, i think it is a crappy and scummy thing to do.
Mr johnson wants to buy one for little jimmy, but he has to work, and cannot camp out. Everybody rushes out, buys several and scalps them on ebay for a thousand over origional price.
Now little jimmy cannot have one for xmas cause a bunch of ********* camped out and bought em all and now daddy cant afford to get him one.
Personally, i say if you get one, just get one for yourself. Scalping it will definatly get you some money, but it is a shady move in my view, taking advantage of people who couldnt camp out, just to make a quick buck.
