Abortion... what is your opinion?
#153
Yes i know abortion carri4es risks, far less than childbirth. by far. depending on how developed the foetus is.
Greg, WHERE IS YOU KID YOU DECIDED TO KEEP?
You have never been in the situation, you can not possible understand the gravity of the situation unless you have been there.

pro choice does not mean pro-abortion. it just means that sometimes there are circumstances where it is the better option

And i dont want to sound harsh or bitter here, but dont worry, im sure ill be able to afford this baby, I'll be 30 in january and have a great career, but i do appreciate the sentiment.
what is this whole idea you pro-life'ers have that all pro-choice people just wanna go run out and have abortions?
Haveing the option is the important thing, ive seen so many messed up comments on here about how 14-16 year old girls should be required to carry thier pregnancy to term. And they can just givee the baby away? As if a 16 year old girl is mature enough to handle such a situation? And incest? and rape? im sorry that is sick. As if the 16 year old girl who got raped isnt already in enough mental anguish that will scar her life, lets **** her up more and force her to have her attackers child!
or maybe they were just stupid and diddnt use brith control, or the rubber broke, or she forgot a single pill, or even got pregnant while on the pill. "They should have to deal with the consequences" so a baby is a "consequence?" it is a punishment to them for thier actions? thats how it sounds when you all say that.
im sorry but 16 is way too young to be having a kid. Now instead of focusing on school she drops out to take care of the kid at home while the father drops out and gets a crap dead end job and both of thier futures are ruined and the statistically speaking the baby aint gonna do too well in life, so chances are the baby will never make anything of itself when it gets to be an adult. Great job! You just screwed up 3 lives or more!!!! Way to go! What a great rule!!!!!! I thik it should be up to the parents no matter what. Obnly they know thier current situation, and maybe if they screw up and are allowed to terminate the prengancy, next time they get pregnant it will be cause they are READY to have a baby and now you dont have a another family on wellfare draining taxes out of your wallet.
(I know there are always exceptions, but an exception is an exception because it is far from the norm)
Case in point. My girfriend who is carrying my child that us pro-choicers want to keep already has a kid. She is a very intelligent person, a bit irresponsible back when she was 16, but ALL 16 year olds are. Anyways she got pregnant. There was ENORMOUS pressure to keep the baby, religious family. . The father dropped out of school to help support it, got involved with drugs and has been in and out of jail for meth. She herself had to drop out of school to take care of the baby. She has dreams and stuff, but for now she is doing what she can to get by using foodstamps, and she doesent even make enough money to buy health insurance. She makes too much to get medicare.
She is a highschool dropout with no college and very little chance of making much with herself.
She is DAMN lucky to have a guy like me, im going to give her the chance to go to college, earn a degree, i will be able to provide health insurance and give her what she has never been afforded. Im lso going to be the father figure and male role model for her son who desperatly needs it.
If she was able to terminate the pregnancy she would probably already have a degree with a very bright future.
In this scenario, things might still have a happy ending for her, but more than not, that never happens. the children grow up in poverty, get into crime, and decent people's tax dollars are paying for thier incarcerations, thier free medical care, thier foodstamps, thier wellfare checks.
Then you got the semi-pro life who say incest cases should be aborted but not because they screwed up and diddnt use protection?
IWhere is the line here folks? and what is this stupid blabbering about how if everyone was pro-choice there wouldnt be any babys? thats about the stupidest argument ive ever heared.
It is nobodys business but the parents, THEY are the ones who speak for the "potential child"

I believe it should be the decision of the 2 participating (male and female)parties and not a biased, overly religious sect of the american society. No government or religion has the right to dictate how someone medically treats their body. On the other end of the spectrum, I also believe physician assisted suicide should be legalized.

Accept in cases of rape, those two people made a choice when she spread her legs and he stuck it in.
I pretty much agree on your comment about medically treating your body, but abortion is not healthcare...it's murder.

I don't often have the time in the evenings to sit and chat on line do to my work hours and such, usually I just have time to check new posts, reply to a few as I can and then head off to bed. I saw the poll, voted and then stated my belief as requested. Honestly didn't see when the thread was started and didn't read any of it until today.
Yes, I'm pro-choice, and thats never going to change. That doesn't make me a murderer, or an immature, irresponsible or immoral person. Its just my belief.
This debate has always, and will always bring out the best and the worst in people. I'm just glad that we live in a country where we can express our opinions and beliefs in an open society, free from fear of persecution and prosecution.
Regardless of whether your pro-life or pro-choice, abortion is a legal option in this country. Until there is a majority of the voting population that has the polical power to affect another change, abortions will continue to be legal.

Abortion is soo prevelent in society that I estimate that a HUGE percent of the population as either had an abortion or participated in an abortion at one time. While this does not make it right, it makes it virtually impossible for people to vote against it. Majority opinion rules in this country, but that does nto always mean that we make the right decisions.
Further more, I am pragmatic. Sometimes it is better to legalize immoral activity so it can be controlled. As long as abortion is legal, it can take place in healthy clinics where laws are created to govern the process. Without this, these procedures will take place anyway...it's just that clean doctors offices will be replaced by coat hangers.
Also, with the invention of new drugs, a women could have sex with 10 guys in one night, pop a pill and not have to worry about being pregnant. While some will debate those drugs, I still can not help but think that drugs are better then pulling out a baby....at least to some extent.
So, let me end with this. Before any person engages in sex, they should have a plan for what they are going to do if they get pregnant. If abortion is an acceptible option, then know that up front. If abortion is not, then consider that too. But, before you decide which option, be sure to educate yourself. If you are not ready to have a kid, and abortion is not an option, then don't have sex or use birth control. If abortion is an option, educate yourself on the procedure and know and understand the physical and emotional issues before you either stick it in or spread your legs that you can live with this choice.
Anyone who uses abortion with reckless abandonment for the sole purpose of birth control time and time again has the moral soul of an insect. We all have the right to think, just know your options and make the best decision for you once you have all the facts. At least this way, you will make thr right choice.
