geico is the worst insurance company you could have. ever wonder why they are so cheap to have? Well when you get in an accident, they come back the same way. You get used parts that are just fixed up and they half-*** and deny things you may need.

What do I know though, I just work next to the bodyshop department, and see the final fixed product of smashed up vehicles

Geicos inspectors still come out to inspect the vehicle. Its their final word on what parts get ordered, not yours or your fathers. And they are going to order used parts to fix your car and if its new, its garbage aftermarket.

Statefarm and Allstate are one of the better companies. I use American Family which isnt so great but better than most. Progressive is also garbage.

Geico is a rip off. If you shop around and stick their high prices in their face they'll tell you that they're higher because everything is online and convenient. Pure BS... Allstate dude. I love Allstate. They're not the cheapest they're about mid tier but when I went 3 wide on a 2 lane road and rumpled the front and sides a little, I went in for the inspection and the inspector took my word for it that certain things would need to be replaced (like control arms, struts, sway bar, wheels) and wrote up the estimate in front of me. When I knew they were trying to get used parts I told him no, we'll use new parts on my suspension lest I have an unsafe car with a top speed of 150mph. They ended up writing me a check for 4500 or so, which I took down to my tuner and put into suspension work (tubular control arms, new bilsteins, finished coil overs, etc..). I called up virtualbodyshop.com and ordered a bumper cover, header panel and 2 fenders painted to match, got a couple freebie side mirrors and deposited 1900 bucks in my account when all was said and done.

point is, stand up for yourself and get a decent insurance company... perhaps one with people instead of frikkin lizards as the spokesman. Geico is selling the sizzle with that whole gecko thing... because they lack in the steak department.

Oh yeah... and allstate didn't trip at the guages, or the roll cage, or the race seats, or the 5pt harnesses or the clearly-not-ford brakes, or the CAI, or the shifter, or anything. They just paid me what I needed to fix my car and stayed out of my hair from then on.

I did have Geico and i was paying $150 a month for my 95 GT and 03 Lightning, full coverage, then they screwed up my bill and said i owed more and crap. so I dropped them. i have usaa now and pay 50 bucks on the saleen, full coverage. I've probably had about 10 speeding tickets in my life.
It does depends on alot of things, like age, married, area, etc. but shop around.
I would tell them that your stock tach goes in and out, so it's not working right, and the aftermarket one is working and more accurate. New shifter handle cause the other one was broke or bent, something. But in all, that's some bad BS they gave you.

Unfortunatly, I had to shop around fairly recently, about 3 monthes ago. I bought a cheap 96 Cherokee for a beater/winter car, and when I called Allstate, (was on my parents plan still while in school), they asked if my parents name was ont he Jeep, I said no, they said I couldn't put it on their policy then. So I told them my stang didn't have my parents names on it, so they dropped me right then and there. We have been Home and car and busnes customers of Allstates for about 15 years as a family, and they just drop me like a bad habit. So i shopped around, includeing allstate. Allstate wanted 2600 every 6 monthes, (more than my whole family plan total) for my 97 Cobra and the 96 Jeep. I can't afford that, so I asked around about 6 different companies, and ended up wiht Gieco for 900 every 6 monthes (150 a month). I knew the coverage would be crappy when I signed up, and that they would probably drop me if I get in an accident, but I need insurance and they are all I can afford right now.

State Farm or Allstate. Kepe in mnd, you sometimes get what you paid for.

Tell me, who has the better deal, the guy who pays $150/month and wrecks his car and gets replacement? Or, the guy who pays $110/month and wrecks his car and get crap?

Insurance needs to be more then a reason to just be able to drive your car.
