The shape of the earth: the Bible says it's flat. I disagree. The world is not flat. How can anyone believe the Bible is the word of God if he can't get the shape of the world correct?
Is that TRUE?????????????????
------------------------------------
The sun standing still for 24 hours.
Quote:
Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: Sun, stand still over Gibeon; and Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon. So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies. Is this not written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hastened to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded a voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel
(Joshua 10:12-14).
How is this possible? Some Biblicist, at one time, claimed that NASA found the "missing day" that proved the Bible was correct. This has subsequently been shown to be a fraud created by certain Biblicist in an effort to prove the inerrancy of the Bible.
---------------------------------
The geocentric universe.
The are numerous passages in the Bible that picture the earth to be the immobile center of the universe. This is another very serious error telling us that God could not possibly be the author of the Bible.

Jack, awesome research. I do hoenstly appreciate your attempt to shed some light on this matter. The fact is, every claim in your 2 posts thats against genesis or the bible not once EVER gives the verse it references.
I mean heck, if there are really THAT many references to the earth being geo-centric, they should've atleast been able to mention ONE.
As for the sun stopping. I believe God can do it. When you believe that god created the earth from nothing, it's not too hard to believe that he stopped the earth's rotation for a day. nor is it hard to believe eve was created from a rib. I mean shoot, adam was created from dirt, it'd be a heckuva lot easier to create someone from rib than dirt.
As for the earth being flat...show me a verse. That's a crock
And I absolutely love the last statement in your first post about how evolution was created by people who intentionally wanted God written out of creation.

Well yeah, like i said this is stuff i found pre-written, i dont know the validity of the claims whereas it mentions to specific chapters of the bible.
"I mean shoot, adam was created from dirt, it'd be a heckuva lot easier to create someone from rib than dirt."

That is definitely one of the most awesome things I've read in a LONG time. Thanks for that.
As for the incest deal...I am going to be humble and tell you that I don't have an answer for that. I will look it up though.

when you die, you die. thats it, blackness.
our minds have evolved to become so smart, that we come up with an idea of conciousness, and sometimes a "soul" depending on how religious you are.
people were scared of dieing, so guess what came to save the day? RELIGION! you dont actually "die" you go to a holy place if your good, and an evil place if your bad. so be good!
in my book, you have ONE shot at life. dont **** it up.

i dont think he ever will realize. cus he'll die, "conciousness" will end, and he wont know the better.
it is kinda sad to see people waste their life away on religion. i almost feel bad for danny...almost :shifty:

Dude, that is about the stupidest thing i have ever heared. "Waste thier life away on religion" I mean seriously, that is just plain ignorant.
I dont feel bad for danny one bit. most religious people tend to be happier, healthier, and live a long fufilling life and are generally good people. Im sure when the reaper comes'a'knockin that he will be a ripe old man chalk full of good life experiences with very little regrets. Im sure when it is his time he will be very comfortable and die with a smile, and be remembered by far more people than i will be remembered by.
just because he doesent want to smoke pot, drink achohol, or have sex before marrige doesent mean he will miss out on much at all, because there really is a whole lot more to life than getting wasted and laid.

sure, religion makes people...better. but to me its falsely. falsely filling peoples head with ideas of a magical place that theyll go to when they die.
just because I don't have religion to tell me how to live my life, doesnt mean i dont have morals.
people do waste their life on religion. im not saying religious people waste their life, but those whose life REVOLVE around "god" are wasting their life IMO.
ever see that video on the net about that super fat bitch on trading spouses, who was yelling about jesus and dark, tainted things...people like that are who im talking about.
do you ever wonder why just about all of the smartest people in the world,(scientists, nobel prize winners, etc) dont beleive in god or religion? gee, i wonder why that could be..

Yeah, the people who revolve every little second around god are not merely "Religious" they are fanatics. Like that lady with her little church who were all saying thank god for 911, thank god for aids, thank god for hunger, death, and misery. Those people are straight out cooks and even most religious people recognize that.
I certainly wouldnt go so far as to call danny or 99% of religious people fanatics.

so you think a mythical being is a logical reason for the question why? lol. i just dont think weve figured it out yet, OR there is no why. we are here for no reason at all. we are just here. **** happened and here we are, living our pointless insignificant lives.
and a force thats unmeasureable and unidentifiable, people think its god?
.....please link me to further information

Yep. I dont have any links, im sure if you can dig around you can find it though. Not saying they "think" it is god, but there are some people beginning to suspect it is god as it seems to have some drive and is a part of everything. there has to be some force driving things outward and such. dunno much more of it than that but i found it very interesting.
And as for a mythological being being the answer to Why, well, i dunno, maybe not mythological because if there are myths surrounding it then there would be certain criteria from humans understanding of something that they used as an explanation that would have to come into play. I think we need to take a more modern view on such a phenomenon and cast away old stereotypes.
as ive said, i believe in god, just not the standard idea of what god is, i think that it is a perfectly good explanation and probably very existant, but we will have to pretty much re-define what god is.
If there is an unseen/seen/whatever force that we have not detected that:
A) Is the reason everything was created and created everything with intent,
B) appears to have some sort of a goal to explain the creation of existance (intelligent deisgn)
C) that lives in the chronological dimention in its entirety and thus has always existed and will always exist,
D) Truly is everywhere always.
then yeah, i think something like that would end up being the God that everybody is looking for. Maybe not the mythological one, but a perfectly reasonable scientific find that could be considered god as it is the creator of everything.
Human perception and conciousness is a trait developed through evolution, so i dont think that conciousness or intelligence as we understand really even needs to apply to such a god, nor if it were "Humanly" intelligent would we be required to understand it or its intent as it would most likely be like a down syndrome patient trying to understand quantum theory.
However, if it is the creator, surrounds everything, and has always been and always will be, well, damn if that doesent sound like god to me.
Just because it isnt in white robes with a beard doesent mean its not god.
If it did design and create everything with a form of intelligence, purpose, and direct intent, then yeah. That sure sounds like god. Just minus the interest in people, white robes, and mythology surrounding it.
