Actually, man people have said Cobras are so great and wonderful and blah blah. Which they are, but they aren't the holy grail. Jealous? Nah, I like Cobras as well as any Mustang. I just don't see the big deal. I'm happy with my cars, no problems there. Just as soon as a Cobra is brought up, some people are automatically going "It'll win!! It'll kill you!". It gets old, no matter who I offend by saying Cobras are overrated, they are.

I think it'll be a good race... stock for stock cobras win... thats a fact jack...

but yeh... I love my GT... but i dont think cobras are overrated... they are fine cars... I hope i can find me an engine for my GT

 

Of course stock for stock the Cobra would win, granted only if the one in it could drive. Just funny how it was an automatic yelling of "Cobra will win! Cobra will walk you!" before anything about the cars were discussed, which is why I say Cobras are overrated.

 

yeh... well... everybody thinks... the most horsepower wins... which is 100% false...

no1 ever considers all the factors... like heres all i can think of...

1.HP
2.Torque
3.weight
4.power to weight ratio
5.gearing
6.traction

so if all you factor in is HP then of coarse a cobra will win!

 

You forgot 7. Driver and 8. Mods

Like the '89 GT twin-turbo (I believe on street fire vids) that pretty much busts everythings ***.

But you hit it right on the head, if its all HP to HP stock plus the same experience drivers, a Cobra will win.

 

didnt i just post a... post relitive to this topic? I was driving home alone and a 96-98 cobra tried to pass me, full throttle im sure, and i kept him off. Not a real race, but it shows you what I can do, lol. His, however, was a vert (+200ish, and he had his 120 pound daughter in the car)
And that was him being bone stock and me having an exhaust like it really matters. It will really come down to the driver on this if he isnt extensively modded... cams and exaust... well, it will be a spicey race!

 

Still don't understand why you keep saying they are overrated? what is overrated about them? By people keep saying they will automatically win; that is what makes them overrated?

Didn't read the whole thread...

I ran a bone stock 98 Cobra manual tranny against my 01 GT stock gears, full exhaust, dyno tune through my auto tranny. We ran from 20mph-80mph and were NECK AND NECK the entire way.

Pulled over at the end and he said he runs a consistent 13.9 1/4. hope this helps.

No, just saying that it gets old hearing the same things, people assume, and the ones who do have never raced / drove one. I love Cobras, just don't see why they're always held to the highest of highs by people, just because they see the name Cobra.
