dumb question

well if you ever go to the Ford dealer to get it seriviced, they usually let you know when it's getting time for a fluid change. I'm just making these up, but maybe something like power steering fluid or brake fluid, I have no clue when tho. I just let my dealership take care of all that.

actually ford recommends oil change every 5k miles... however i use synthetic mobil one - the best actually gain 1 -2 hp.. (lol) but you only have to chnage it every 15k miles - it cost $30 for the change at walmart (awsome deal) you cant buy the oil for that. however synthetic must be started on a low mileage engine...
so over 20-30k miles dont use it... bc it will make you engine leak... also you should not start with synthetic until about 10k-15k miles to let the engine break in... mobil one regualr oil chnages every 7k miles and its good to... GTX is good also - other oils have a high sulfur content and gunk up... valvoline is good 2 - any synthetic is good... hope that helps..
antifreeze and differential..transmission only every 100k miles - (you could do transmision at 75K if wanted 2 (automatic)

I use the best and thats castrol (synthetic), with a motorcraft filter.
You should not have to replace tranny or differential fluid unless theres a leak of some sort.
Brake fluid should be replaced when its dirty, although its hard to tell.
Power steering should not have to be replaced unless serviced for some reason.
Same applies for coolant, although some people like to change that too every now and then.

Depends if you have an automatic transmission. If so, the fluid, gasket and filter screen should be changed every 60,000 miles.
Differential/ Gear oil should be check at 45, 000 miles and replaced at 90,000 miles. An easy way to check this is remove the plug stick your finger in the hole and feel for oil. If you can't feel any then it's time to add. Also if the oil doesn't have a thickness to it I would drain and replace.
Most all manufacturers state change your engine oil every 3,000 miles, but if your using a good syntheic blend ( Mobil1, Royal Purple, Amsoil..etc.) it will be OK if you go a few miles over. I've owned several cars and used syntheic oils for 5,000 miles before an oil change without any problems.

Differential: Inspect every 6000, replace every 15000. Synthetic GL5 + 4 oz Equa-Torque additive. I use Red Line light shockproof with no additive for daily and heavy shockproof for rae action. You can't tell when it's bad unless there's water in it. Change it based on mileage only. Synthetic GL5 is worth it. Clean your check plug of the metal it collects when you check it. That's your diff wear dipstick... more metal and bigger chunks means prepare for failure.
Tranny: Automatic- change every 15K with pan gasket and filter. Uses ATF. Manual, 3650's use ATF and should be changed every 12K. I use Amsoil ATF or GM synchromesh fluid. It's made me happy. You can go longer but why... ATF is cheap and it's not hard. You should be watching the drain plug for excess metal buildup. That is a sign of premature wear or impending doom.
Engine. 3000 miles. Period. Synthetic is better but not usually 5 bucks a quart better. If you can afford it, do it, otherwise, castrol and Havoline are good conventional oils with heavy racing backing. Don't go trippin if you miss a little and hit 5K, just don't do it all the time. Beware extended interval oils, they make claims that they can't be sure are valid in all cases. Performance engines deserve changes every 3K, period, end of argument. Be a cheapo here and buy an engine in a year.
Brake fluid. Change every year. I use Super Blue Racing brake fluid. >530deg boiling point and 15 bucks a quart. And it's pretty blue. You know you need to if there are streaks of other colors in your fluid, brown and black bits, etc...
Power steering, partial change every year by draining the reservior and refilling it. Uses ATF.
Coolant. Change every year. Green or Pink as directed in your owners manual or by your engine builder. Mercedes supposedly uses good stuff that's getting more popular. pink DexCool for all aluminum engines. Green is good enough for Iron block aluminum heads in most cases. Some cars CANT have pink coolant added. usually iron heads and block motors are like that.
Blinker fluid. Every time you find it.
Specific mileage doesn't make sense to use as a yardstick for maintenance. You change the fluid when your mileage, fluid age/condition and driving habits dictate it. If you smell a burnt smell in your fluid, change it. It will normally be pretty dark and gross looking if it's gotten overheated. Often it will look like overcooked butter. Excess foaming is REALLY bad. foam is death for lubricants. A couple bubbles isn't bad but a bunch is terrible.

Llike I said... hard driven auto's... even less. Manufacturers used to hold 30K as the long interval for grandma driven cadillacs... For kid driven stangs, 15K tops. Daily driver gently kid driven is 25-30K in my book. it's a helluva lot better than 60K... 60K you might as well not have any lubricant to start with... it'll be totally broken down and useless by 60.

Good advice redneck.
I like to use amsoil in my vehicle. ive always liked it. its a little more expensive than most others but worth it to me. I change my oil with it every 5k unless ive been pounding the car, in which case ill do it a little bit early. i just did my trans fluid and it has about 500 miles on that, and rear end was done about 3000 miles ago with the gear swap. Ill do the brake fluid with the install of cobra brakes, then probably just do a coolant flush while its there.

there's a guy that knows how to beat on his car and keep it running. fluids are such cheap insurance against premature failure that I can't see a reason not to factor that in to your budget. Every time you get gas, grab a quart of Amsoil, or Red Line, or brake fluid and stock them up till you have enough for a change or two. Then you barely notice the cost, you have the stuff on hand, and you get to use the good stuff because it didn't send you to the bloody poor house.
For engine oil, I have an 8 quart system and go on 3 month cycles since I don't drive much in the way of distance (10 miles a day). Since I have shortened mileage cycles I usually use conventional oils unless I'm going to beat on it a bit... then I'm a Red Line fan.
