Default Purchasing Used Performance Parts a Bad Idea?

I come to this question, because I'm sure a lot of you are aware that I'm looking into supercharging next year. One of my installers is very proned on Prochargers and suggested looking on ebay for one. This is where he bought his for his 99 corvette and never had problems. Is it ok to buy a used supercharger? Would a used centri be better than a KB? or vice versa? Would a used vortech or novi be ok? I know ebay can be somewhatt risky, but if you read the details and know what you are bidding on, I've never had a bad consequence. And from any horror stories I've heard, it's from not reading the full descriptions.

So is it ok to buy a used supercharger?

It wouldnt be a bad idea if you know who you are buying from. Like you said about risks, you should read the descriptions and take caution in who you buy from. obviously I wouldnt hop onto a forum and buy from some schmuck with 15 posts or someone on ebay with low feedback. also use paypal if possible so you may file a claim if something goes wrong with the transaction.

Yea, I always use pay pal. Also, the feedback scores are very important. Would you say that's for all performance parts? Are there any that anyone would be very skeptical about buying used?

I wouldn't buy ANYTHING used off E-bay unless you could get it for core price.I'm even skeptical about buying new parts that are way cheaper than their counterparts through retailers.S/C's and turbo's have bearings that can be completly shot and still look good on the outside.Heads can be warped or cracked and cranks can have invisible cracks.Even using Paypal you still have to deal with the bullsh1t.
