Default Reverse Glow Gauges

I was planning on getting reverse glow gauges but someone told me that they don't work very well because they're dim. I was just wondering if anyone knows if this is true or not.

I got mine from UPR...the needles were all jacked up and the lighting sucked, they didn't even include the new stop pins and the old one's were too small.
