If i put it up to 5 grand in first and dont shift is that a bad thing

 

I don't really know for sure, but I've done it a time or two myself. I wouldn't make a habit of it though.

 

R U talking about holding it at 5,000 rpms or just shifting there? Most of us around here shift regularly at 6,000. The car has a rev limiter on it, so you really can't hurt it.

I wouldnt hold it there for too long. So guys holdem that high for a couple seconds at a autocross but thats it.

 

like put it up to five then let it drop back down to 3 in first gear

 

oh man thats how ya do wheelies in the stangs. i tach mine up to like 3600 RPM then let off the gas let it roll back to like 3500 then puch it. if you just punch it real fast the let go then punch it again then let go then pucnh it again till you cant do it anymore in first you can get your front tire like 2-3 inchs off the ground. it cool as hell looking plus the whole car twist like its friggen got a v-12 in it.
my 96 wont hop yet(oh so close though) but ive seen it done in newer almost stock stangs and even old as camaros
