Default 2008 has moldy smell in heater!

My 2008 has a moldy smell coming from the heat ducts when I turn on air or heat. It just started today. Has anyone had ths problem or even have an idea of what it could be?

My car does that after running the AC then switching to heat later in the week as our temperatures change so often. One day its 70 the next its freezing then back and forth. Eventually the smell quits after awhile.

didn't realize we even had cabin filters. is it all years or just starting sn197?

they sell a spray at walmart or autozone that is made to spray into the ducts and the openings below the windshield while u are running the system on normal a/c not max. i have also been told that if u only run max and never put it on normal a/c u can get mildew built up and odors come from vents. never noticed it on my work truck(ford ranger). i never run normal a/c on it always use max in the summer.

Yup I notice it with max a/c, i guess where max recirculates it gets all the mildew built up and causes the nasty smell.
